    Benefits Cut...

    1.  IR serves a purpose.  Agreed that some pers have abused it, but the reality is that this will hurt a lot of pers on IR.  I agree that more notice could have been given, rather than 30 days plus or minus a few.  Note to all:  I've never been on IR.  This is my opinion on what is simply right...

Anyone else feel the same way?

I've been feeling this way for a while, but have, admittedly been afraid to talk about it.  After coming back from Afghanistan and decompression, my personal drive (which was normally quite high) really sucked.  In fact, I wasn't motivated.  Little did I know that other people felt the same...

F-35 saga may make picking the new chief of defence staff a complicated task

Maybe we'll all get our ration of rum at the end of the day so that we all go home happy, even after all the cuts!!  ;D

New Recruit Almost Immediately Promoted To Corporal Due To Survival Ability

Poor dog.  I hate to see when dogs are abused.  A broken jaw and bruising on the hind indicates abuse to me.  We need to toughen up the animal abuse laws so that the abusers can never again own pets.

    CH47 Chinook

I've sat back and watched two recent stories state clear falsehoods about the Chinook program.  Below is a story from Matthew Fisher.  Matthew is a highly educated journalist in regards to military matters, which frankly, is rare in Canada.  I know this from personally speaking with Matthew...

    Help needed - NSN

To add to the conversation as a former SAMEO of a Tac Hel unit, most Griffon parts are not dealt with or ordered through the CFSS.  We contract Bell to manage our parts on our behalf at a warehouse in Calgary.  The system is called COOP (pronounced co-op).  I agree with the recommendation to go...

    Honours & Awards (merged)

Well done guys.  I'm friends with Bill Fielding and he is a very modest fellow.  Only spoke of the incident when asked and gave little info.  I'm very glad that he got something. By the way, having done H&A in KAF for 9 and a half months, I can tell you straightforward that nominations are...

Don Cherry to receive honorary doctorate from RMC

Here's a superb article from the Toronto Sun by Joe Warmington: http://www.torontosun.com/2011/11/07/grapes-hung-out-to-dry I am not an RMC grad.  I'm DEO.  I spent some time there doing some OPMEs and I'll tell you, there was one professor that really pissed me off.  The only thing that kept...

Ottawa School Cancels Remembrance Day Event

Turns out that indeed, there is more to this story.  Here is the link to the National Post version of the story: http://news.nationalpost.com/2011/11/03/no-tanks-guns-or-remembrance-day-symposium-for-ottawa-school/ So, to summarize: 1. The Catholic School Board (note that I am Catholic)...

Remembrance Day Flypast - x7 Griffons

I think that I have it, but Strike hasn't responded yet or PM'ed me, so maybe I'll go get some McDonald's french fries with lots of salt, sick back, and enjoy them.  :)

Remembrance Day Flypast - x7 Griffons

I'm no longer at a Tac Hel unit.  I was informed of this from a former Tac Hel associate.  I would assume that they would be a mix of different units considering that there are supposed to be seven.  That's my best guess.

Remembrance Day Flypast - x7 Griffons

Aaah, I get it now.  I never knew that you were ex-pilote.  I never checked your info until now.  I think that I have it figured out who you are, but I thought that you were posted to Ottawa?? I don't think that I was in Borden working for 400 or 427 Sqn at that time for HR trg, assuming that...

Legion Poppy Copyright issues (bikers, NHL, etc.)

I sent an email the first day that I found out about this.  I still have not received a response back, nor do I expect that I will get one.  Frankly, and it is sad, I feel that the Legion no longer represents our interests.
