The base is located right in the city. It shares the airfield with the Airport here. It is about a 5 minute drive from Polo Park, a major shopping area. The area around the base is mostly middle class, maybe upper middle. Any other questions just ask.

The Engineers are taking new recruits, and transfers from all units. Last I heard the hope was they will stand up on their own in a few years. As of now, I have seen an Eng. Capt. floating around the armouries and know of a few people who have finished there BMQ.

Try contacting your local Police for an engraver. I know the Winnipeg Police Service lends them out for free. Its part of a theft prevention program here.

Don't worry about shooting. You will be well tought. I had never shot a rifle before basic and I had one of the top scores. As for CPR, yo can learn it on your own, or wait for the medics to teach you. I would just wait for BMQ to learn it. That way you wont be learning stuff you already know...

For most duties, steel toe is not needed. All it would do is add extra weight. And by the 10km of a 20km foot patrol, extra weight is the last thing I want.

Course reports will always have a negative part to them. It is the staff's way of trying to get you to push yourself. Just keep helping out buddy when they need it. I have never seen or heard of someone getting a perfect course report. So improve the faults they point oput if you can, and just...
