    NCM to Pilot

I'm hoping to be done PLQ (JLC) before my degree, which shouldnt be to hard seeing as though I have at least 2 years before I should be done. Which part of officer training is skipped? Zoomie, who were you with as a crewman?

    NCM to Pilot

I was just wondering if any of the pilots here made the jump from NCM to pilot (Res or Reg.)? This is a path that I am seriously considering after I complete my university degree. Any experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated.

    Requirements for Airforce Pilot

How many times are you allowed to do the Aircrew Selection? If you don't pass the first time, are you allowed to try again? And if so, how long must you wait?

    Jungle Boots

I dont see them in that picture, most jungle boots I have seen have holes in the side to allow water to drain out. Good for if you think you will be going through a swamp or its raining alot.

    Adventure training for reserves?

As a member of 38 CBG, I went on a canoe trip for adventure training 2 years ago. I also leave tuesday to go to Pincher Creek, Alberta for skiing and avalanche training. So in answer to your question, there still is adventure training. It might just depend on where you are.

    PERs : All issues questions...2003-2019

Even though a secret or closed P.E.R. may be more accurate, I prefer seeing mine not so that I can complain and whine about it, but so that I know where I can improve.

New Fd Engr Sqn for 38 CBG

38 CBG is NW Ont, Man, and Sask. The plan is for the engineers to be a part of the FGH until they have enough personel to stand up on their own. I can only guess that because we are the only unit in the Armouries, it is easier to start them there. Last I heard there is one recruit that is...

    Fort Garry Horse

Some bad news first I suppose. For the last couple years the downstairs mess has been closed due to fire regulations. We are currently off the parade square in the NW corner. I think it was the Padre's office at one time. And the good news, within the next few months (hopefully) we should be...

Hours a night? (FGH advice in perticular)

I know there are a few of us (Garrys) that live in the south end of the city. (I'm in the North East). I know that they usually come together in one car for most parade nights. We start at 1900 and go until about 2200 on a tuesday night. If it is a garrison weekend, start time is usually...

    T.V's in Reserve messes

On a parade night I usually spend just as much, if not more, time in the mess than actual training. This includes the time before we start training for the night as well as the time spent after dismissal. As for the T.V., its usually on but hardly anyone really watches it, unless of course...

    Strat monument in France

This is a picture of members of the Fort Garry Horse at the unveiling of a monument built by a private citizen at Moreuil Wood. He built this on his private land on the spot where the body of a Strat soldier was discovered in the late 90's. He was killed at the battle of Moreuil Wood  in 1918...

    Big guys in the infantry

Being a big guy is to your advantage in my opinion. Being a big guy myself, about 6'3" and 230lbs, I seem to find alot of the tasks easier than most. There are times where being small helps, such as foot recce patrols in the bush, but for the most part, it pays to be big. I personally find I...
