In my honest opinion, that bag looks like a pain in the butt if you need some thing at the bottom quick. With the issue ruck it doesnt take alot of time to unpack and repack it if you are in a hurry. But that bag looks like it may take a while to get to the bottom. Nevermind that it doesnt look...
I replaced them completely. I dont even remember if I was given the issue insoles, as within an hour of getting my kit I was at the store looking for insoles.
I had about a weeks notice before I started BMQ. I did the first three weekends before I was able to get my kit. They will most likely give you grey coveralls until you are kitted out.
I believe I am one of the lucky ones, seeing as though I was fully qualified in one year. I did my BMQ on weekends starting in Jan., SQ and DP1 full time in the summer, and DP2 again on weekends in the fall. I figure I am pretty lucky considering there are some I know who took almost five years.
My OD T-shirts fit fine, its the issue PT shirt that I dont like, which sucks when everyone on course has to wear the same shirt. And it sounds like I do pretty much the same thing for sleeping and changing shirts etc.
I'm not sure about knee pads, but from my experience, camelbaks are usually accepted because it is an easy way to keep you hydrated. I wore one last summer in Wainwright and had no problems with course staff.
The shirts would be better, better for me at least, if they were a bit bigger. I'm not exactly a fatty, but my build isnt exactly small either. And I agree about the shorts.
You may have your tac vest now, but your course staff may decide you should have webbing like the rest. I know a guy who showed up for course with his fancy new vest and was told to get his but to stores for some good old fashioned webbing. ;D
Last I heard, we (FGH) were possibly getting an engineering SQN as an attachment until there is enough people for the engineers to stand up on their own.
I just got home from taking part in some of the ceremonies ine France. All I can say is it is one thing to read and look at pictures of the battles, but quite another to actually see them in person as a vet tells what exactly happened.
Cant be any worse than good old lovely Wainwright. ;D
I've only had the privilege of being in Shilo during the winter, but it was nice and warm then. ;)
I‘ve been saying that they already got him for a while now, but those other voices keep telling me I‘m crazy. Sigh, well time to put that tinfoil hat back on. The Major League Baseball satellite is about to make another pass. :warstory: (thats not a helmet, its my tinfoil hat.)
Just be careful, a guy on one of my courses last summer dislocated his shoulder. Apparently it was a repeat injury and last I heard it was being decided whether or not he would be allowed to stay in the Army.
