    Tacvest Mods

Phil, nice work on the mods. I run a Cadpat TT hydration carrier that is attached with MALICE clips to the drag handle and the lower horizontal row of dasiy chain loops. It's not great but it works. I also have another TT hydration carrier on my ruck, these will hold a 3L Thermobak, HSGI also...

    Afghanistan: Lessons Learned (merged)

I think that's the problem: we read too much!  Check out the Army Electronic Library: trust me, those are "required readings".  Reading is fine, but come on, experience and knowledge doesn't always come from a book. I agree with learning from guys who were over doing the business. WHat I meant...

    Afghanistan: Lessons Learned (merged)

After talking to some of our guys that are on TF 1-07, they said they are getting Arktis Sigma vests. There are three versions coming - rifleman, M203, and C9. We'll see. I don't know why they went with Arktis, but it's better than the TV. I'll know more when the guys come back home for...

Arid CADPAT LBV and TacVest in Afghanistan

If you are looking for vests/chest rigs in CadPat AR, check out Dave's Surplus. I happen to know they have a PILE of AR chest rigs from HSGI, all the models. They also have a selection of AR pouches, frag, smoke, mag, pistol, dump, drop leg holsters, utility pouches, and on and on.....

    Afghanistan: Lessons Learned (merged)

I know Tiger Tactical makes a C9 specific vest. If you want to custom build one, go with Tactical Tailor. They are moderately priced, extremely well-made and durable. You can get it in CadPat (TW) from Dave's Surplus in Vancouver. They have a website. If you want to go a little higher quality...

    Weapons modification RANT.

Personally I am very happy to see the CoC lightening up when it comes to kit and weapons. So basically for someone to add some toys to their rifle, just got to get the weapons tech to ok it? What about painting weapons? Is anyone doing that here in Canada or is that just happening on operations...

    Afghanistan: Lessons Learned (merged)

BDS -  Good job on the AAr's. I intend to pass some of the lessons along to my troops. Maybe change training a bit. You guys did a stand-up job over there, you should be proud of yourselves. I drank with some of the boys.

I like the Specter line of slings. I had the 3 pt for my AK, and the single point for my M4.

    Designing a Load Bearing System

Anyone who says that CP Gear is comparable to Eagle is smoking crack!!!!! While some of CP Gears stuff is good, There is a reason why many, many operators, soldiers and contractors are using the CIRAS. I used one in AStan and loved it. It was durable, comfortable and very expensive. But well...

EOtech 552 For Brother In A-Stan

EoTech/Aimpoint????? Comes down to matter of perference. EoTechs are better for hitting moving targets are shooting from a moving vehicle. You can cowitness back-up iron sights with both the EoTech and Aimpoint. I use both and like both of them. The only problem is changing from close (-100m)...

    New Combat shirts?????????????

I saw a documentary on our guys in K-Har awhile back and noticed some guys are wearing combat shirts with pockets on the sleeves. Very similar to the American shirts, but in CADPAT AR. Are these a new version of the combat shirt or some mods the guys are doing?

    Diamondback Tactical Vests

They are good, but they are really funny about selling and shipping outside the US. I have bought a few items from them but I have a US PO box and US Visa. As far as I know they won't even accept non-US credit cards. Our Tac Team tried to buy 12 Predators with pouches and they wouldn't sell to...

    Designing a Load Bearing System

CP does not compare to Eagle. Period. My last trip to A-Stan I invested in the CIRAS(Land). Awesome piece of kit. Some might complain about the price but as far as I am concerned, when your life is on the line you should be using the best kit money can buy. Just like the professional mechanic...

    New Tac. Vest's W/ Modular System's

HSGI makes pouches and chest rigs in CADPAT TW and AR. ESSTAC makes pouches and chest rigs in CADPAT TW, Tactical Tailor makes pouches in CADPAT TW. Not sure but Eagle may be coming out with some stuff in CADPAT. You alo have, of course, Drop Zone, Wheelers and Tiger Tactical. ICE Tactical also...

    Designing a Load Bearing System

Check out the 2 pcesplint front MAV with X harness from TT. It works quite well.  I belive ICE Tactical makes something similar as well. I know both TT and ICE make in CADPAT as well. If you look around there is quite a selection of CADPAT pouches out there as well. Aside from Drop Zone, and CP...
