Releasing from ROTP, and then reapplying

RMC is nothing like the rest of the CF. Go ask an RMC grad who gets posted into their first unit and see what their reaction is.

    Swine flu at St Jean?

Releasing from ROTP, and then reapplying

That's an option too...however, to be accepted into the civvie-u stream you have to be accepted to a university beforehand. So unless you've still got an acceptance to a school (or can get accepted before you apply) then you're going to be out of luck. You can also ask to serve out your time...

Releasing from ROTP, and then reapplying

Nothing is stopping you from applying again. I'm sure the recruiters will understand why you released (not wanting to be at RMC).

    All Things Negligent Discharge (merged)

IMHO (and its just IMHO) all are at faut. The member: for not speaking up about his/her lack of familiarity before using the weapon (if someone handed me something I wasn't familiar with and told me to 'just use it' I'd say no). The supervisor: for not ensuring the member was properly trained...

    All Things Negligent Discharge (merged)

I'd argue that it indicates instead that said member needs more training on it. Do you know much training officers generally get on pistols before they hit a unit? One day learning how to assemble it do the IA's and one day on the range. If someone can't use a pistol properly before they get...

Grade 10 BMQ and Occupational Training

In the reserves your training is conducted on weekends and during the summer.

    NATO Movement Control Brassard

Do you have a link to that CANFORGEN or instruction? I see Tfc Techs (and Mov O's) who wear them for their day to day work, not just while loading a C 17 or rail car.

They're baaack! Ceremonial Guard inspected by the Governor General

Ahh, gotcha. Kind of odd though, I thought the reg force infantry courses out of Meaford (or Gagetown for that matter) were under the purview of CTC...which is an army unit and not part of CFSTG. And in the pics some of the guys wearing said badges were Cpls' (there can't be many, if any...

    Horrible Work Environment

110% agreed. If the problem is indeed with some at the MCpl level, then the WO/MWO (depending on where you work) is often the best way to deal with the issue. I got the impression he was talking about people at the Sgt/WO level. I can understand that from a young Pte/Cpl's perspective going...

They're baaack! Ceremonial Guard inspected by the Governor General

But in the pics there are guys wearing the command badge of CFSTG (Canadian Forces Support Training Group), I'm sure of it. Looks like they were wearing Log cap badges as well. Drivers maybe?

They're baaack! Ceremonial Guard inspected by the Governor General

Have you ever been on parliament hill in the middle of a muggy Ottawa summer in one of those tunics (albeit mine was green and I wore a glengarry, not a bearskin)? It sucks, people pass out, it happens and I have the utmost respect for guys who willingly put themselves through that during the...

    Horrible Work Environment

Record what is happening and ask to go see your platoon commander/officer in charge. Just make sure you have evidence to back up what you're accusing them of.

Why you chose to attend RMC?

I can't resist, I chose to NOT go to RMC because I wanted to live the university experience. If you want more reasons why I'm glad I didn't attend RMC (from an outsider's view, of course) feel free to PM me, as my views on that place generally get people's back up here. That being said, if I...

'Did we push her too much?' Article on Major Michelle Mendes

That's not how it came off. I've got opinions on lot of things, but there's also a proper time and place for them, and its not after they've died while serving their country and before an investigation has been completed. I doubt it. Did you? Did you work with her for any period of time...

'Did we push her too much?' Article on Major Michelle Mendes

Some pretty judgemental comments coming from people who've never met Maj Mendes (in case you're wondering, I did and a number of people I know worked with her). Your comments are completely off base. And ignorant. And offensive. Edit: to highlight the comment I take issue with. This site...

WEARING OF DESERT COMBAT BOOTS (DCB) PRIOR TO DEPLOYMENT

I noticed alot of people wearing desert boots in garrison/field since I got here before this CANFORGEN came out (I'm assuming it was a decision from the higher-ups in the battle group). Either way, this is, IMHO, an excellent idea.

CT -- Reserves into ROTP/RMC (merged)

I figured he meant NCM, if I could go back in time I'd have joined the 'Mo as soon as I turned 16 instead of waiting a year. Regardless, joining the reserves first was one of the best decisions I ever made and I advise anyone who queries me about ROTP to do so. In addition to the benefits to the...

CT -- Reserves into ROTP/RMC (merged)

Give it a shot, some reserve time gives you a heads up to the CF and a big bump in pay when you go into ROTP. You're cutting it pretty close though. It also gives you options if you don't get accepted into ROTP (being in the 'Mo is a great way to pay your way through school, gives you the option...
