CT -- Reserves into ROTP/RMC (merged)

Well, you have to live in Canada to join the Primary Reserve. Are you planning on moving back before you head to RMC?

Montreal woman humiliated in border strip search

Again, the media distorting the story. It starts by saying she had to strip, but in fact all she had to do was drop her drawers and expose her rear...not her 'private bits'. It happens, I've been lucky to not have ever had any problems at the border, but it's something one has to be prepared...

    Walts, posers & wannabes (merged)

At the end of the day there's little you can do beyond 'outing' him online and hopefully making him scurry back from whence he came. There ARE legal provisions to prosecute people for impersonating a CF member etc, but I see that being a rather hard case to make in regards to someone posing...

Single Quarters & Rations (R&Q) [MERGED]

Yes. But the poster was asking about ROTP. ROTP is a different beast then say the CFR program.

How? I answered the guy's question. You interjected.

Eh? And you don't get recommended for ROTP, you apply.

    Soaring gun sales in Arizona

Because he flipped on his former buddies. It makes sense and its ludicris all at the same time. I believe MGen (Ret'd) Mackenzie was issued one for a time (or so he mentioned in his latest book).

    Wearing a kilt with DEU

But a moniker like 'Piper' wouldn't imply knowledge of highland dress rules? Regardless, this is silly and I'm backing off.

Single Quarters & Rations (R&Q) [MERGED]

REALLY? Yes, personal experience. A reservist who transfers into ROTP gets paid the Reg F equivalent of their previous rank. I get Pte (B). I know a couple Cpl's and a MCpl who went the ROTP route and lived it up on $40 000+ a year while going to school.

    Wearing a kilt with DEU

And why did you 'call me out' and not dangerboy? I've noticed a tendancy of yours to follow my posts and belittle them (the first mature post I've ever seen you make in reply to mine was in my new topic in the LE sub-forum).

    Wearing a kilt with DEU

I played the pipes in a military pipes and drums band and I'm well enough versed is dress and deportment issues for highland wear in the CF. There is no way a CO would approve a guy to get his DEU's modified to be worn with a kilt and then wear said tunic 'just because' with his own personal...

    Soaring gun sales in Arizona

Out of idle curiosity, how does one get issued an ATC (no, I'm not looking to get one)? If there's only 13 in Ontario, I assume it's highly restricted and 'only for a good reason'.

    Wearing a kilt with DEU

You'd have to get it authorised and give a good reason (i.e. be the 'lone piper' for your unit). You also in all likelihood would not get to wear your personal kilt (if it gets authorised)...instead you would wear your regimental/unit/branch tartan. At the end of the day though, the chances of...

Thanks Bruce. Completely understood. Options to keep her safe then (her parents, who have alot of pull at her work, are working on that angle)?

Looking for some (very serious) advice.

I tried, she doesn't want to (kind hearted soul, doesn't want to 'ruin the guy'). I'm just looking to see what options are out there for her (as I can't do anything if she doesn't want to). I know we have a few people here who are LEO types and I wanted to see what they'd suggest (having come...

Looking for some (very serious) advice.

I know my reputation among some of the 'cool kids' (I mean that in jest, before anyone gets upset) isn't so great here anymore...but I've got a situation on my hands that is causing me some worry for a couple of reasons, and I need some advice/help from our resident law enforcement types. I'll...

    PERs : All issues questions...2003-2019

Not with you I'm afraid, although through the grapevine I hear you folks (if you are where I think you are) are overworked to the breaking point. Thanks for making the point I was trying to make. Maybe those who are long retired and don't know the situation on the ground RIGHT NOW will get the...

NCM Res. to ROTP Civi U Salary

You get paid the RegF equivalent of your 'Mo rank. When they say paying back your degree, they mean paying it back by serving. You only owe money if you leave before your obligatory service is over.
