Hockey player fired for not signing flag for troops

Ah but properly placed diggers and bashers can ensure that all of your lemmings get to the other side.  ;)

Canada, Australia, U.K. Sign Joint Strike Fighter Agreements

I definitely agree that we need that capability however I disagree that these should be Air Force resources. It does not make sense to have aircraft that are being used in direct support of the Army in an entirely different command. I have never understood why green and grey helicopters fall...

    Canadian Para Smocks

He must be getting his info off of Wikipedia. The article on the Canadian Para Smock and the DPM Parachute Smock make the same (incorrect?) reference.

    "Men's"/whatever "Christmas"/whatever Dinner (merged)

I attended one with guests, we were all in civilian clothes. It was a hell of a party (the MPs came and shut us down twice  ;)) but not the same as the traditional Mess Dinner. I think it would be great if a unit could do both but the money probably isn't there. With guests it was probably the...

    CF-18's headed to A'stan?

Dosanjh doesn't even know what party he is in and you expect him to know something about the military?

    Whole Iltis Purchase

I was looking at the Crown Assets Disposal website last month and there were tons of listings for Iltis parts from various regions of the country. There were also 30-40 complete vehicles for sale in Petawawa and a similar number in Valcartier. Even if they have all been sold they haven't...

    Edmonton International vs Namao

Yeah Griesbach needed to go or have a major cash infusion. How much money did DND get for that land, the traditional $1? Being a Vancouver based reservist I spent a lot of time at Chilliwack. It was very important for all of the units in the Lower Mainland as a training area and even though we...

    Some interesting pictures.

I just stumbled across this guy's pictures. Can't figure out a name but he must be a Public Affairs Officer. Lots of good stuff. http://flickr.com/photos/85013738@N00/show/ If you put your mouse near the top of the black part of the box a control panel pops up.

    Edmonton International vs Namao

I've only lived here for two years so I  don't know if I qualify. ;)  There were a lot of crappy old buildings at Griesbach but there were other bases that were (fairly) modern and still ended up being closed,  Chilliwack for example. I don't know if people might think I'm a kook but I sometimes...

    Edmonton International vs Namao

I'm not living in the past, just wondering out loud if the infrastructure was still in place. Regardless of the civilian airports in Edmonton I think  that there is still a need for an Air Force base in Edmonton but is there the political will or the money?.  Most of the base closures in the...

    Edmonton International vs Namao

I'm not sure if this is the right forum. Seems to me that the current mission to Afghanistan adds even more emphasis to the foolishness of closing Griesbach, turning Namao into an Army base. Are the runways and hangars still there? How hard would it be to start using it as an Air Force base...

    Lorne Ford

Is he on this board? I knew a Lorne Ford when I was a kid. He lived in Edmonton and used to come with his sister (who I had a big crush on) to visit their grandmother in New Westminster, B.C.  Ever since the bombing I have wondered if he is the same guy.
