Boot cleaning / polishing / care of

One thing about shining boots, don't spit shine if you have just finished drinking a pile of wobbly pops...Beer spit doesn't work very well. In addition the little circular motions with the Kiwi cloth give you the spins ;D

Why does everyone suggest I avoid being a NCM?

Re: staying until you are 55. I suppose if you want to, you could, but look at it this way; The military is a way of life like no other. You become part of a family. If you stay too long, you risk not being able to re-adjust to civvie life, and become lonely. If you do your basic 20 years, you...

    Canadian Military Prison

Just a FYI; My charge was a drug offence (a moment of stupidity - half of a reefer)_ 30 days in jail - C&P - deferment of promotion - not worth it, really dumb-ass move. Oh well hindsight is 20/20. Hard lesson learned.

    Canadian Military Prison

Further to my last; I did get a pardon, which took 18 months to complete. My records were wiped clean (An Officer actually accompanied me to the MP shack and watched the paperwork get pulled). I do believ that if someone dug deep enough, somewhere a record would show up, not a Civvie company...

    Canadian Military Prison

Ah yes SDB Edmonton....spent 25 days there. I never made it out of A wing. Lots of PT and lots of drill. Cell inspections every morning. Three cigarettes a day, one after each meal and we were allowed to talk for Ten minutes after each meal as well. I was there in '83. We had one guy that...

Why does everyone suggest I avoid being a NCM?

Don't listen to anyone else, do what is right for you, what your heart tells you. Regardless of what you do or where you go in the Military, the experience will give you a step up on any job, once you leave the military...nothing wrong with being an NCM. Cheers and Good luck

    Confused

Really fast could mean a few weeks, which is all it has been right? Don't worry, it won't be long......sometimes it's just a matter of who is doing what pile of papers and how fast they are at processing it. The demand (I believe) is increasing for Combat arms, so chances are..... Good luck...

Tan berets and other CANSOFCOM, JTF, and CSOR fashions [1st split: CSOR]

Sometimes negative comments on these types of issues depicts jealousy...I can't have what they have, so it upsets me. I think it is good to have something like this (Tan Beret) it promotes pride in uniform and gives young recruits another reason to work hard to earn this privilege. With regards...

My Dutch is not as good...

Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) & Canadian foreign intelligence capability (or lack th

Yeah, I have an opinion...CSIS probably does lots of things that are not on the "formal menu." Disinformation, and throwing the public off, is that not part of what spy agencies do? I believe what they say "officially" and do "unofficially" varies greatly. Like JTF2, CSIS has to operate out of...

Canadian Sea King crashes off Denmark

Well thank god the crew is allright. Sooo how much longer for replacement choppers? I will read all the posts related to this issue, but man, it sure is taking a long time eh? Maybe this will be a reminder to the minds in charge to do something proactive...mmm sounds like wishfull thinking..

Divining the right role, capabilities, structure, and Regimental System for Canada's Army Reserves

I was reading a column out of a Renfrew paper, which stated that not only Reg Force soldiers could try out for the new regiment in Pet, but also Reserves. My question is; the 3RCR will supply the initial batch of soldiers, and then the selection/training phase begins in April. With these units...

    Russian weapons sale to Burma

The other thing I found interesting about Burma was that the Yugo's seem to be eyeballing the dormant Gold mines there, and as part of the deal with the arms , they would be able to re-open and use the mines. The Yugo's also peddle third party hardware, such as Swedish Bofors for the Frigates...

    Russian weapons sale to Burma

Wouldn't surprise me, I thought so far the Yugoslavs and Chinese were supplying Burma. I did read somewhere that they have around 170.00 troops and are buying up patrol frigates and other arms....wonder why they need to build up like that....any experts on the area out there? Gnplummer :cdn:

    Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP)-RMC 2000 - 2018 [Merged]

By your initial post, it appears that you have some attributes that the military looks for...physically fit, and ambitious. If your strenghts are channelled properly, I think you have a great chance, just keep your marks up. Cheers, Gnplummer :cdn:

The Shaving Superthread- All You Want and More....

Yup, straightrazor could be used as a weapon or a way to commit suicide if you get bummed out during the course. It would be taken away from you on the first day of Basic, along with any other contraband. Don't know if the rules have changed, but in my Basic, we all shaved with the same type of...

Joint Task Force 2 (JTF 2) - Canadian Special Forces

After reading a dozen or so "guest" posts, I can see that most people don't know Jack about JT2. The bitterness some display is simply put..jealousy. If you train your bag off and show you have above average skillsets and you are mentally stable, Have proven yourself as a soldier  , and that...
