    Cadet Freedom of the City

Yes cadet units do receive the Freedom of the City.  In some cases, cadet units receive it before their Reg F and Res affiliated units.  In many areas, Cadet Corps may be the only military representation. Here are some Freedoms of the Cities awarded to Cadet Units. 3018 Orleans, ON received...

    Cadet Freedom of the City

Yes, in fact there are Army Cadet Corps which are older than many CF Units.  There are two (#2 Bishop's College and #7 St. Thomas) which are older than the Dragoons.  Bishop's College was formed in 1879 and has run continously since then. www.armycadethistory.com  Check it out when you have time.

ARE SWORDS ALLOWED FOR CEREMONIAL USE BY CADETS??????

Confused?  I know I am. Air Cadets are forbidden from using swords across the country.  CATO 55-04.  The only time an Air Cadet MAY use a sword is while at a Sea or Army CSTC. Here is all that I can find at the moment, though there is no link, just an email from a friend. Please note that...

    Swords

Sorry LeGars, Just noticed that you are CIC.  If you are looking for yourself, depending on what you are wearing, you have 2 different patterns of swords.  If you are in regular DEUs then it would be the infantry pattern sword.  If you are wearing a kilt, then it would be a basket hilted...

    Swords

I will ask a friend of mine where he got his.  It is a "blank" infantry pattern sword.  Blank meaning that there is no cypher engraved, it is attached with screws.  This allows a new cypher to be attached, should anything change.  The blade is etched, but again, no cypher.  He paid around $400. ...

Do you wish your corps would do more with your Affiliated Unit?

qyrang, you are getting far too ahead of yourself here. There are 3 major OKs that you need in order to participate in anything. 1.  You need your CO's approval. 2.  You need your affiliated unit's CO's approval. 3.  You need the RCO's (through Det) approval. The CATO deals with this and...

ARE SWORDS ALLOWED FOR CEREMONIAL USE BY CADETS??????

No problem. What many should do if you are not sure of something is: 1.  Check your resources (CATOs, Regional Orders, Standing Orders, Routine Orders, 201 etc) 2.  Ask your CO 3.  In the case of Army Cadets, check with the Affiliated Unit 4.  Check with Det 5.  Get a...

ARE SWORDS ALLOWED FOR CEREMONIAL USE BY CADETS??????

Not quite.  Generally speaking, just because it has been done for years, does not make things right. May be true........in your case. I assume you mean Atlantic Region in this case.  Eastern Region (Quebec) has issued regional orders forbidding the use of swords, rifles and bayonets in...

    Field Kitchen Requirements

Thanks so far guys. I have attempted to discuss this with the RCSU, through Det, but no one is quite sure what the best way to handle the situation is.  It was briefly discussed at the COs' Conference in June, but no details.  At the moment, everyone is worried about Cadet Summer Training...

Before you get excited Beezer, please read this: http://www.cadets.ca/_docs/cato-oaic/1133_b.pdf And read the CATOs.  Though the CATOs may not directly apply to you, as a member of the PRes, they do apply to cadets, CIC Officers and anyone else who deals with cadets (that being PRes and Reg...
