    Is the army for me?

Incentive dates at QL5+ levels are (or can be?) tied to the anniversary of becoming QL qualified.  At least mine were/are, it might be trade dependent.  Not that it matters much, it's still a yearly raise, the exact date of which might change based on the day you get your QL. Man I forgot how...

    Gunner to Infantry Officer?

It's not asking for permission.  My local BPSO, at least, doesn't allow folks to book themselves in outside of their CoC - possibly a way of making sure members keep their chains informed.  Obviously your mileage may vary.

    Trades Acceptable for Pilot Transfer

Which entry plans?  Will I have to redo my TOS should I get my wings?  7 years  post wings would almost certainly go beyond my 20-year IE, and no one has mentioned any sort of restriction.  I don't think I care, but I might start to the closer I get to retirement.

    Gunner to Infantry Officer?

It's not an OT, you'd be applying for an in-service commissioning plan.  It doesn't matter how many previous OTs you have done, unless they were involuntary...  You're going to be looking at CEOTP or UTPNCM - maybe CFR if you are a MCpl or Sgt (but that's also a nomination plan, you don't really...

Thinking about joining the Air Force

I haven't seen the video, but there used to be a program called OCTP that would allow high school grads to become officers, and there was no obligation to get a degree.  That's long over and was replaced by CEOTP, which didn't require a degree on entry, but you have to promise to get one by the...

Thinking about joining the Air Force

Here's how to become a pilot after dropping out of university: 1. Enroll as an NCM.  2. Work very, very hard in a relatively unsatisfying, extreme job environment.  3. Be the best in your trade year after year, and put on a happy face 24/7 (this is called internalizing your extrinsic...

Thinking about joining the Air Force

It's been said already but as this is the main point of your post: finish university.  There is to entry plan available to you that does not require a degree.

question about CF paying for college courses

Absolutely - you just have to contribute your own time (there is also time available for academic purposes but it's not a right).  The learning also has to be considered as a benefit to the CF, and justified by you, but any academic type coursing seems to be fine.  The process is via Individual...

Seeking advice and feedback on ideal personal CF career path

Your thoughts concerning RMC are entirely reasonable and something I hadn't considered in making the suggestion. Yes, you can pursue university on your own time, and be reimbursed costs via an ILP.  Many people do it, although it's a balancing act with training and operations. If you finish...

Seeking advice and feedback on ideal personal CF career path

Some excellent advice in this thread.  I would lean, in your case, toward finishing your degree if possible, and then commissioning - being in the reserves while going to school would certainly help.  Why not try ROTP? As others have said, commissioning from the ranks is not a sure thing.  I...

    RMC, What should I do?

It was brought to my attention I was little unclear - I'm not talking dropping everything so you can pull 90+% averages.  Get 'em in the 80s (probably) and otherwise basically work with what you have.  Join the reserves if you want (it's not a bad idea) but it won't be a panacea.

    RMC, What should I do?

I agree with Osotogari, particularly as I have been on both sides of that situation (the only difference being I'm reg force).  There is no shortcut around mediocre high school marks.  A year in the reserves is not going to help that - if it takes more focus away from school, it may hurt, no...

    Six months for candidates.

    Officer employment

You still have to meet officer cutoff on the CFAT.  Certainly for UTP, not sure about CFR (but I would guess so).  You're afforded another opportunity to write it if you are interested in applying.

Phase 2 in Moose Jaw. Do any OJT's have questions?

That articulates all the suspicions I had, both about how the waiting system is handled and that II(G) is probably out based on the way things are now.  Thanks.

Phase 2 in Moose Jaw. Do any OJT's have questions?

More to that, when does a candidate's name get put on the waiting list for IIa?  I am also doing Portage this summer, but in contrast will have only finished first year university, consequently leaving two and a half or so years between flying training stages.  I would guess that II(G) is...

The Going To Esquimalt Thread- PAT, PMQ, Etc.- Merged

This is a necro post but I have never seen an ET or stoker (or steward or navcomm or NCIOP...) stand regular watch-on-deck or do partship hands (NCIOPs excepted here), and it is my understanding that techs don't even man special sea duty positions (helm, etc) anymore because...well, who knows. ...
