    Drill and Military Tradition

Edward Campbell, I had my turn at that in 1957 with 2 Cdn Gds before we went to Germany. That Div parade was held at Blissville "Airport", the dustbowl of New Brunswick.  ::) IIRC, there were 8 or 9 Inf Bns, 2 Armd Regts, 2 Art Regts, and assorted support units on parade along with the...

A Collection Of Army.ca Humour - including SKIPPY'S DAMN LIST AGAIN!!

Hi, Quote from Elric - "Instruction printed on US Rocket Launcher - "Aim towards Enemy." Not a joke as such, but I have a Lee Enfield 303, Parker Hale conversion, and I'm pretty certain(98%) that it was used  by the French Army during WW2. Why - there is an arrow etched into the outside of...

PBI, I joined in 56, so not really the time period you are asking about, but I did my first 4 yrs as an Infantryman(Bren Gun and Inf Sig Drv Op) and then remustered to the Music Trade. I was scheduled to do a 10 week Jr NCO course, but remustered before it started. After the remuster, the only...

    Canadian Health Care System

MN, In Dec, 2003, I was in hospital for an anuerysm repair(aortic arch) and a double bypass. 6 weeks later, I was in for another anuerysm repair(abdomen). This didn't cost me one red cent other than the portion of my taxes which go to medicare.    ;D     I've had a couple of surgeons tell me...

Hi, Heard in 1957 during our first week of recruit training(from the platoon Sgt). "Remember this people - you have NO human rights here, because you are NOT considered to be humans". At least he referred to us as people. I was called much worse in my career.    :)

Sniper stops insurgents from 950 yards

\ Hi Wes, I think you'll find that this was not "tongue in cheek". He actually made the killing shot from either 2340 or 2430 meters with a 50cal sniper rifle(which I know nothing about). He had American witnesses, and apparently used their ammunition. All the best    Drummy

Drive by in CFB Gagetown PMQs

Recce41, I agree with you to a point, but that weapon should have been secured, with bolt and/or ammunition stored under lock and key in a different location. I know that doesn't always happen, but just possibly, the message will start to get around that it has to happen. All the best    Drummy

Hi, The wife and I were in town that day (Friday IIRC) doing some shopping and yes it happened. It was on Mirimichi just south of the traffic circle. We got routed around the area at about 1130 but by 1300 it was pretty well over. The mounties had two teenagers in custody, and the rifle. It...

Role of Officer vs job of NCM [Merged]

Hi CJ, Just thought I'd let you know that I "Enlisted" in this formum in Nov, 2000. Because I've only had 17 posts(this is # 18), I am still considered a guest. I used to be a member, but at sometime in the past, we all had to re-register, and that's when I became a guest. Can't remember when...
