    Professional Engineer

hsndrake... (At least with APEGGA and APEGS) the EIT (and MIT) designation is for those engineers who are registered within the provincial body (APEGGA, APEGS, etc.) and who are not yet P.Eng. It basically states that as an Engineer in training, you are a member of the provincial body and...

    Spain is pulling out

If my buddy took a shot in the face in the bar, I would be there to support him. Canada is there in Afghanistan. If my buddy went after someone with whom he had a grudge because of a fight his father was in 10 years ago, I wouldn‘t be so eager to help him.. Even if my buddy said he had a...

    Who is/was the greatest Canadian?

Well said, Infanteer... :) I understand you‘re reasoning, Shaun. Trudeau did do a few good things, but I don‘t think he did enough to make him the greatest Canadian... I agree with you about the members of the Canadian Armed Forces. They have done a remarkable job in all conflicts that...

    Who is/was the greatest Canadian?

Shaun... I fear the backlash that your post has created... There is a great... resentment (to put it mildly) of that man to the people of the west... But, maybe I am wrong...

Right... same with the medical... I‘d imagine. sigh... is there a link to the expiry date of these sorts of things?

I am just about the same place you are. I am still waiting to hear from CFRC to see if my application package is all up to date. I am sure there will be somethings I need to update... but hopefully not too much. If my CFAT and interview are still valid, then hopefully I can get PT done and...

    Question re: pay during BOTP

I know... this is something my wife and I have talked about. Luckily, it is her professional opinion that I may be close to the language requirement already... so that shaves 7 months... or am I crazy in thinking that? The $1000 per paycheque isn‘t too bad... right now I am making about 600...

    Question re: pay during BOTP

I am married (with a daughter), and I am not expecting to get rich... I just want to make sure the basics (utilities, rent, food) are covered for my family when I do go off to basic...

    Shotguns in the CF

Well, I can‘t say exactly why it was invented.. but here is a couple of conjectures... 1) As a hunting weapon... If you have ever gone duck or goose hunting, you‘ll understand why.. 2) It‘s a throwback to the musket.. "Rifling" as we know it hadn‘t been invented yet, and it was cheaper to...

    Question re: pay during BOTP

During BOTP, I know you have the rank of OCDT, and get pay according to TB directive... Would anyone here be able to tell me approx. what that works out to after tax? I am just trying to figure out my family‘s budget, when I eventually do go... thanks!

    2nd language training

I (and my wife) was just wondering... It i sstated that the 2nd language training in St. Jean takes about 7 months... what about those recruits that know some french? Do you know what "levels" the forces are looking for? My wife works with the RCMP in Human Resources, and I guess people...

    Professional Engineer

Good luck on the EME.. I am also relieved about the iron ring. It is the only other thing I wear on my hands, besides my wedding ring, and I figure the only way it is coming off permanently is when I die. Although the PEng designation is a ways off... you may want to think about registering...

    Professional Engineer

Really good question. Although I cannot answer for 100% certain, I would think that military engineering experience would count towards your P.Eng, but that would have to be verified by the provincial body (in your case, I imagine the PEO).. But I can‘t see why the experience gained wouldn‘t...

Wow... someone who remembers me? Gosh... I scarcely remember myself... :) SigO, hey? Cool... I will make sure I remember that distinction... On a side note, Casing... your "tag" says you are a former gunner... where were you posted while you were a gunner?

Length of time a recruitment file usually held open?

I just spoke to the CFRC‘s... The one in Regina closed the file... I never asked them to, but I guess if they hadn‘t heard from me in a while.. But I spoke with Edmonton, and they will do a file transfer. I may need to fill in a couple of things to get me current... but I should find that...

Length of time a recruitment file usually held open?

My brother in law is working in Shilo right now... He did a lot of training in Gagetown. He and his wife said they didn‘t like it much, but I think that‘s because they are both from Winnipeg and were homesick... I would like to eventually get out to Kingston... it looks like an absolutely...

Length of time a recruitment file usually held open?

Good luck... My daughter‘s daycare providers husband works at Garrison in Supply (I believe). Nice guy... Moving to Edmonton from Regina has been great. I live maybe 5 minutes away from the base... so I am kind of hoping when I do get in that I will eventually get posted back to Edmonton.
