    Mk III's are killing me...

Make sure they are the mark III; there was a cheap replacement in the system. Second, the is an English size and a USA size, Canada uses the English sizing. Example I am a metric 42, English 7 USA 8. Because of the rush of us made shoes and running shoes in Canada the last few years we have...

    Has anyone had anything stolen?

I have had quite a few items stolen, it has made me sad to think that your buddy or fellow Armed Forces member would steal from you. And you know who you are, they ahould be kicked out of the forces. The first item was on my recruit course, my jacket was stolen out of my closet, the next item...

    Pacing Beads

It is one of those peaces of kit you never use till you need it. The fact is that most of us train in camps or bases that we have been going to for years and know the terain very well, but if you ever had to go on a recce or travel at night through the woods in the rain to reach a position, they...

Tac Vest does not make the grade.

I do not know about everyone else but for static positions I think the Tac Vest is perfect. It seems to me by everything that has been posted that when they designed and approved the Tac Vest they where trying to find a vest that would work for ground and support troops. Maybe they should have...

You do not get it, we have to respect yours. We have to respect your views or risk the wrath, either being charged or being a non-conforming individual.

Religion in the Canadian Forces & in Canadian Society

I have actually been pissed off many times in the military, but my point is I understand how the guy feels, I get pissed off every time I have to do prayer. And as I said I believe there is a place for padres in the forces beside prayer. All I am saying is that refusing to do a push up is...

Religion in the Canadian Forces & in Canadian Society

When I was told to remove my headdress is was to say a prayer, not a tradition of removing my beret to go in a mess. I was never comfortable removing it for prayer, in fact it pissed me off that I had to listen to a prayer when I did not pray. Its all in perpesctive. But I am a minority and you...

    Dog Tags

My first set in 1973 looked the same as now except for they where aluminum and had our SIN instead of our military number, we did not have military numbers in the 70's just used our SIN, that started in the mid 60's. Also there was no blood groop on the back. Quite a few guy's purchased gold dog...

Religion in the Canadian Forces & in Canadian Society

Being an agnostic myself I have always felt certain distaste to removing my headdress at a remembrance parade, in most cases it was a protestant padre who was saying prayers in his full protestant regalia. I removed my headrest in respect to my fallen brothers in all of our wars and peacekeeping...

Divining the right role, capabilities, structure, and Regimental System for Canada's Army Reserves

you are not the only one that I heard of, I think it has a lot to do with the recruiting officer, it pisses me off at no end when I hear it. Its true military bull&*^%^. But what do you do, take your lumps and move on. It is 5 years you risk loosing and 7 you loose it all. If you are a trade...

Divining the right role, capabilities, structure, and Regimental System for Canada's Army Reserves

You could imagine having to learn drill all over again, it was fun. If they are not sure what to do then make ex foces members take the SQ2 or trade course. Then you learn the weapons spend 4 weeks on course rather than 12. But who am I to say, I am not in Ottawa with my super officer...

Divining the right role, capabilities, structure, and Regimental System for Canada's Army Reserves

On a other note, if you leave the forces for more than 5 years you might have to start from 0 if you come back in. For sure if you are out more than 7 years. I am a reservist now that was in the forces as a sargent and had to take BMQ, SQ1 and SQ2 and I have a couple of friends that want to join...

Tac Vest does not make the grade.

So what about the KFS, where are you guys putting it? Yes I always have food on my mind.....:) It does not hurt to have the breast pockets fit a mag and it would be simple and cost effective.

Tac Vest does not make the grade.

The two upper breast pockets on our combat shirts where originally made to hold FNC1 mags. They came quite handy but you had to be careful when running or you could get a mag in the jaw. Also the cargo pouches on you combat shirt was designed to hold 4 (2 in each) mags. Again at the time they...
