They look so front heavy, but I know that the house is counteracted by the buoyance of the larger bow and that a lot of times those vessels will have big heavy things on their work deck (like aids to navigation and piles of massive cables).
These things can't come fast enough for the coast...
RCAF only really seems to care about fighters and transport. Their focus is going to be on airfields in the north for NORAD and supplying permanent bases (Alert).
CA does not care about proper amphib at all and did not ask the RCN for this sort of vessel. Sea to shore connectors are not true...
The AMB argument Noah presents that explains the RCN reasoning makes sense, I just don't fully agree with it.
As well, these "help in a HADR" situation arguments are not a reason to build a ship like this. The only argument to ever be made for a naval vessel should be how does it help the...
Someone once told me that an MPA and a submarine working together had more domain awareness that a three frigate with helos task group.
That was pre FELEX and Cyclone but I think the comparison is valuable. It's not like the MPAs and Subs haven't had sensor upgrades since then either.
So I did some more research on BMQ at NRD's. The plan is to do initial cadre training at the reserve units before they are sent on all navy residential training. So they will get a common residential.
So basically they get kit issue, all the admin and then sent to residential,
This is...
This is the dumbest friggin thing I've heard today. The current NavRes BMQ construct is a failure. 24 units, 25 standards. And they don't have remotely the staff or facilities to actually run this anywhere but near a major base. I've seen the products of remote BMQ from the NavRes...
There is BNQ coming to NS this year. (Aberfoyle??). I think they are integrating NETP (MARS 2) directly into the program (like they did with my pres BOTC back in the day) to reduce training delays/gaps, admin etc...
Airforce is looking at a BAFQ in BC.
The recruiting SIP target for this...
Thanks, my understanding is much better now..
This is why Preserver is catching up to Protecteur. The prefitting work amount done on Preserver is much higer particularly for the piping, and is why Protecteur is behind schedule.
That sort of experience is going to make all the CCG ships go...
It's probably a combo of things. Its hard to understate how HAVING ACTUAL MONEY improves the procurement process at the coal face. I can get all the office supplies and equipment I need and don't need to worry about it.
I know the audit looked at big projects. But for smaller projects just...
So an audit done in the last months of JT's government showed what we all knew. A lot of things have changed since then.
They are not where they need to be but wow, I sometimes feel like someone popped the blister. Relief. Though there is healing to do and we can't run on that foot yet.
Yah its a bit in flux, but we did start from the old tanker numbers. I can say CSE Dept is pretty small, but larger than some were originally thinking. There are a lot of cranes on the ship and CSE are the crane operator maintainers. IIRC it was between 250-280 pers. MSE and Deck Dept are...
JSS will certainly have more folks in messes/cabins than on Asterix. 8 max IIRC with a larger heads near their cabin.
Most CPO's - PO's will be 4 to a mess, Some CPO's 2 to a mess. All have their own heads, or share a heads with the cabin beside them (so 8 pers to a heads max). The MSE...
What do you mean by prefitting? Can you educate us on that? What in the image indicates prefitting? And what are the implications of "more than expected"?
This is why I love this site, opportunities to learn!
IF (big if) the RCN is "blocking" (which they can't) a Domestic Ops medal is because all naval operations are Dom Ops basically. As are most Airforce Operations. Hence why the RCN introduced the Sea Service Insignia to recognize all the operations sailors do (by way of counting sea days) that...
I can't speak for all of the badges listed, but no, generally they are not approved to be worn on any other dress but the Naval ones. Because the Navy decided it doesn't want to follow the proper dress regulations procedure for its dress.
