    Sigh, yet another scandel

Seems a little fishy to me. The Grit candidate would have to be incredibly stupid to believe that he could take the riding after somehow swinging all of those NDP votes. This may be British Columbia's most conservative riding, in the heart of white bread bible country. Last election's numbers...

    Int Op: Posting Locations?

Thanks Acorn. It sounds then as if a Navy transfer to Int Op (cpl) will remain at a Navy base and just rebadge but keep Navy DEU, is that correct? I always thought reg force Int Ops were Army only, but I guess that has changed (?).

    Int Op: Posting Locations?

If a CF member becomes a reg force Int Op after the initial four or so years in, what are the initial posting location possibilities within Canada? Or can an Int Op be posted pretty much anywhere? Thanks.

STREAMLINING THE RECRUITING PROCESS / CARENER LE PROCEDE DE RECRUTEMENT

Problem: Security Clearances taking 3, 4, 5 (!) years to complete, according to the local CFRC. 2 years+ just for going on vacation to a few different (touristy) destinations around the globe. A great way to lose good candidates to other employment offers that come along. Perhaps this is out...

    Submarine Trades

So I'm guessing MARS officers can be "voluntold" to serve on subs?

    Sea Time

Interesting. Which trades get to go to sea the most?

    Sea Time

I've done some searching with respect to a sailor's time at sea and, sorting amongst a lot of different feedback from this forum, have the following impression: - It seems a sailor will do about one long-term deployment (6 straight months abroad) every 2-3 years (though in post 911-type "full...

    Submarine Trades

Anyone know if NES OPs are able to serve on subs?

    Submarine Trades

Do sailors in the Canadian Navy have to volunteer/compete for submarine service, or can one be posted to a sub in the normal course of a career?

MARS Officers: sea time later in the career...

Previous posts have noted that MARS officers spend a great deal of time at sea in their first three or so years on the job (around eight months away each year). This period is followed by a shore posting, which is followed by another duration posted to a ship... My question is "approximately"...

    DEO selection board

I was told that there were 16 ARMD positions open this year; does this mean they are all taken, or will new applicants get a chance this fall at the next Board? Will a wait-listed type get priority over my application once my security clearance is done, or do I get to compete with those guys...

    Progress in the Army

Hi 2Bravo, Just to clarify, a new subaltern will normally reach the rank of captain after about three years?

    Infantry wearing black berets?

Arty berets are green but I think the DFS Regt arty guys will wear a black beret as well, no?

    MARS officer question

SeaRoom, thank you very much for your time and info. I assume there will be one more ARMD board this year? I'm DEO with security clearance almost finished (so I'm told), so I'm hoping there will be an end of year ARMD board in addition to the Oct MARS board. I would love to do both jobs, but I...

DEO First Choice: Thinking of Switching

Bobby, I was recently told that security clearance for applicants in my position is taking up to two years at the moment. My situation may be particularly complicated due to the fact that I've both lived abroad for a year and travelled to a lot of different countries in the last few years (some...

    MARS officer question

Thanks for the detailed information, SeaRoom. As you are an officer at a CFRC, would you know how many Reg F MARS positions remain open to fill this year vs. Armour Officer positions? Perhaps it's a long shot, but I thought I'd ask. Thanks for any assistance with this.

DEO First Choice: Thinking of Switching

Agree 100%. The fact is I would love to do both jobs. This is not something I would normally advertise but I'm interested to hear of other personal experiences. This is more a case of what is the most sensible move within the recruiting process, as opposed to a problem with a job choice...

DEO First Choice: Thinking of Switching

I'm hoping to get some input... I applied DEO 2.5 years ago and at this point I am waiting for my security clearance to wrap up (I lived in the UK for most of 1999). I'm told my file should be before the Board in the fall, and this time I'm fairly confident I'm reaching the conclusion of my...

Applications to join foreign forces (Britian and Australia)

England is a great place but, from my experience, the standard of living is considerably lower compared to Canada. A lot of expenses are much higher, as well. I would recommend someone visit for a few months before selling the farm and joining up over there. CF pay is relatively high, as well...
