But the whole point is trying to maintain unit cohesion. Although winter camping might not be a substitute for real training, at least it can give you a little taste of what would actually happen, just without as much equipment. And hey, its better than nothing! Just my :2c:
Have you perhaps considered a local reserve regiment? It might benefit you more because they take things a bit slower (doing weekend training and such). Plus you won't need to be separated from your wife nearly as much.

Well I'm pretty sure (feel free anyone to correct me if I'm wrong) that you won't be able to do every single course possible. You have to realize that some courses, like sniper, are a specialization. That is to say you train to be that specific role. There are plenty of options to choose from...
I was actually also curious about this as I have shin splints and was wondering if they did running everyday. Mind you I'm going for the Reserve's so I assume its a bit different.

I had my CFAT on a different day and just wore jeans/t-shirt to that.
I did have my medical and interview on the same day, I just wore t-shirt and shorts to the medical then changed into buisness casual (dress pants/shoes/shirt)
