Had some friends come back from an explosive course in Florida. Some phone calls were made when explosive residue turned up on them by airport security.

Tis true. I peeled the leather back accidentally one night in the mess and saw the steel. Wrecked a perfectly good pair of boots, but felt comfortable wearing them as safety boots afterwards. <-- Navy and we wore them as work boots way back when.

Also depends on whether you have a non-restricted or restricted PAL. If you have a restricted it opens up your choices for rifles, but you may need to join a gun club to use it and some don't allow restricted weapons on their ranges.
I have been looking around for the same for the same reason...
When you get there you will find that it doesn't really matter what your actual positing message says. Everyone is a jack o' all trades at the FD units. One day you are doing vehicle maintenance, the next you are sweeping the floor and then you might do range coverage or something else the day...
Also going to be available to medics (and possible others) on the next ROTO. Got to use them recently and they are far superior to the CAT. Much easier to use as they don't have the crappy velcro to hassle with and they have a steel rod instead of the plastic ones that seem to always break.

Missed that one. Just curious tho, are those old "sea boots" that were more like a shitty steel toe shoe actually still in the system or did they get tossed when the navy switched to the work boot style?
Ahh, finally something for the sailors. Can't believe that no one has mentioned those awful sea boots that used to be issued and are surely still in the system.

Not really expecting it to. Like I said in a previous post, I don't carry most of the stuff anywhere with me. got a couple field dressings, some 4x4s and gauze in the car and that is about it. IVs weren't much of a consideration cause I seem to remember even on-car that they usually weren't...
That would be great. I have never actually looked up the GSA, so my knowledge of it is based on my 3s which pretty much stated CABC. But SMMT's comments have made me wonder if we are able to do more without worrying about getting into trouble.
DM
So if I understand this right, since I am licensed to give IVs in BC and with the military I can give them in Ontario where I am posted and be covered under the Act provided that I wasn't negligent in initiating or just giving them cause I need the practice?
DM
That is why as a medic I don't carry around things that can get me into trouble. If you don't have combi-tubes, IVs, meds, quick-clot or any of the other goodies that military or civi medics carry then you won't be tempted into using them even if you are positive it is the only thing that can...
What's wrong with grocery shopping in combats? I know after work, Moncion's in Pet is packed with CADPAT stopping in for quick meal fixings on the way home
DM
Most of the medics are paramedics, but only in BC, once they finish their 3s. A lot of them that get posted to Edmonton challenge the provincial testing for their EMT (AB paramedic).
A lot of what we can do is limited by the fact we are not licensed in Ont and we will most likely not be...
Never said it wasn't allowed. Just that it looks like crap. ;)
Sorry Pte, Pea, didn't mean the gender mix. Didn't look and assumed. My mistake.
And as already stated, the course is in CADPAT and the on-car is now in the civvie type uniform as of AUG07.
DM
Unless I am mistaken, Pte Pea is doing the PCP portion of his MedTech QL3 course which is a civvie course done in combats. So it isn't THAT gay. Just hope he doesn't carry it around in public out of uniform too...cause THAT would be gay.
