    Chance of Deployment [Merged]

Its a UN computer with an account for the position not the individual.  So several of us use the same account. I should have logged off Army.ca though. ** edit ** And i am working.  I said "roger out" on the radio, like, 15 minutes ago.

TCCCS not compatible with US radios?!

Normal sized packet / separation and outages should only last a couple minutes at most.  Is it someone just inexperienced complaining?

    Chance of Deployment [Merged]

Armyvern, I suppose I was a bit rash there, but those daily deliveries are pretty much all done by J CON these days, you are right however that the wharehouse is run by canadians, but from UNDOF HQ's point of view the support they get from LoGBatt is very limited, though a large part of that...

    CMS & CMMS Courses

Looking at the Sig Op Trg Calendar for CFSCE.  There's a few courses for CMS Operator and CMMS Operator.  I was hoping someone could give a brief syllabus on those courses?  I don't know have access to the DIN to look into it myself.  Anyone been on either of these courses and have thoughts they...

TCCCS not compatible with US radios?!

WTF? I find this hard to believe.  I know conditions are bad but I've never head of a 522 failing this badly.  Maybe someone wasn't checking their antenna connections.

Jan 06 SVBIED attack in KC

Thankyou, I had been wondering about the conditions of these guys.  Glad the media hasn't forgotten about them completely.  I continue to wish them well in their recovery

    FRS vs Mil Issue Radios

An antenna for what now?  I was certain the FDT has no RF transmit capablilty itself; it needs to be plugged into a radio.  I've never seen this done but always wanted to.  Where did all those FDTs go?  Are they at some Infantry unit?  Are they used?  Seemed to me they were a great idea...

    FRS vs Mil Issue Radios

No, but good to know when comparing the radios.  Just wanted people to be aware of this fact.  And i can't remember the last time i used a VHF frequency over 60 MHz. There are a few settings that can have an effect.  Someone could turn Rx only on.  If they were working in HF they might select...

    FRS vs Mil Issue Radios

First of all, let me just say I'm a big fan of the 138 and Harris radios in general.  But i don't think people are giving a fair comparison between the 522 and 138.  Setting up the 138 as is is pretty easy:  Operating on a single channel in the clear.  Does anyone have a problem doing this on...

Common mistakes that we "commonly" make

Cloning 521s - Most people believe that cloning a master will create a slave.  But cloning a master will create another master.  Cloning a slave will create a 521 that cannot be cloned (disabled).  The only way to create a slave is through the computer program FFS.  This also means the cloning...

    CFSCE is great for SigOps

There are always a few good instructors..  And there are always a few bad instructors.  I'm not all the fond of standards in Kingston.  Each year there seems to be less and less taught.  SDS, switchboards, and map symbols aren't even taught anymore!  VP is taught mostly at the unit level now...

    FRS vs Mil Issue Radios

Careful with the 2590 batteries.  The voltages are higher than spec for the radio.  The batteries used in the 138s & 522 is the BB-590/U.  This battery is used in the other countries (including the states) so there is a plethora of ancillary kit available on the net.  I'd love to get my hands on...

why no cooling fins on LMG Barrels?

do the barrels heat up a lot more while using blanks than ball then? cause the amount of time that it took a the gas selector to get nice and hot enough to make a combat glove smoke, wasn't very long even though we were using short bursts. I had heard of the Vickers, and from what I understand...

    FRS vs Mil Issue Radios

actually I find once you spend a year using it constantly, it becomes very intuitive on what is going on. The problem is that there are way too many features that while necessary for future developments, don't need to be accessable through the control panel as they rely on information fed to...

Looking for kit lists for LCT, QRT and BaseRad.

LCT/QRT are not part of TCCCS.  Here is the LCT checklist: http://dglepm.ottawa-hull.mil.ca/dlcspm/nfcc/equipment/LCT-MCT/index_e.htm Haven't seen one for QRT or BaseRad

    When in uniform...

Is that a hypothetical situation or did that actually happen??  I've never experienced anything like that, infact quite the opposite. I think if you have to go anywhere in uniform try to go in groups.  People that would do something like at are usually cowards and act quite differently when...

    Cadpat for reserves?

yup i make them too..  But i don't know what this boards obsession is with error free posts.  It seems like every thread has a "You're a bad speller so i'm not going to acknowledge your message or answer your question" post even when its pretty obvious what the originator was trying to get...

    Cadpat for reserves?

I don't understand!  your post makes no sense! Ohhh you meant you're Sorry I coudln't resist.  Everyone makes mistakes, especially spelling. I thought combats were made of cotton but on closer inspection it doesn't say.  Anyone know for sure?

They should bring back those hand-crank batteries..  I believe they were for the 515.  Never used one myself tho  :)
