    Gerber or knife? or both?

Bring the Gerber. I bought a Ka-Bar, which I still carry, but never really use. The C7 Bayonet is effective for most other purposes... If you‘re still thinking about a large knife, buy cheap, because it sucks breaking/losing a 180$ blade. It‘s really not worth it.

    rucksack and sleeping bag

Webbing could go into the valise or into the ruck itself. The new tac vest does not have any packs on the rear (though it has webbing sewn onto it for attaching small packs and stuff). So theoretically, it should be easier to wear with a ruck (then webbing or the older tac vest, as both have...

UNAUTHORIZED DISPOSAL OF COMBAT UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT

You‘re right, I did hear it from someone (very reputable mind you). You explain where it all goes then.

UNAUTHORIZED DISPOSAL OF COMBAT UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT

In his house...does it matter? The question is: is there any way to own CADPAT legally as an ordinary citizen? The answer...no, as nothing is supposed to leave the system (they shred all the used CADPAT clothing, except helmet covers). But who will stop you really (unless some off-duty MP...

    IR Treating on CADPAT

I understand that issued CADPAT is IR treated. My question is: How effective is this IR treating? Has anyone here actually seen the effectiveness of the IR treating first-hand? Regards, Chris.

    Mark III combat boots

Completely different. Try checking E-bay for a picture (my camera isnt working yet). You may not have noticed many WWBs on base because the standard for garrison is the Mk3 (the WWB is too hot to wear in an armoury).

    Pushup Problem Errrrrr

It may not be the style of training that you are doing. Problems that I discovered on course were: A) People forget to breathe (this will severely limit your ability to do pushups) B) People do not stretch before doing them (causing rapid muscle fatigue). C) People do not warm up before...

    Hooch vs. Bivy

Thats why Bivvy bags are so nice, you don‘t have a choice where your getting dressed. When you guys use your bivvy bags, do you throw your poncho over your faces to cover them or make any small shelter(assuming there are no vehicles to lay your heads under...lol)?

    SAR Medals of Bravery

I‘d love to be a SAR Tech. They are in the business of saving lives, and they‘re the best at what they do. I have the utmost respect for those guys. They‘re the best, heros every one of them. Chris.

The "G Wagon" (Iltis replacment for Recce & the Reg Force)

Are they still using the AN-126s to transport the equipment over (those huge Russian planes that take off from Trenton at 0300 and wake everyone up two hours early)? BTW: Those wagons are looking pretty good. Hopefully they preform as good as they look.

Troops Forced To Pay Back Meal Claims Advances

Thats the kind of crap that makes me hesitate before joining the CF. ie. Should I accept if my application is approved? Well...there was that one time where the ten Corporals got screwed...so no. Good way to lose a great prospect eh? Somebody better fix this crap.

Parachutist wings from cadets on my PRes or RegF uniform

You have to be an army cadet...better transfer (btw: All of the paperwork has already gone in for this year‘s course, so try to get on a course next year if you really want). You also need to have your NSCE, which is an army cadet qualification. I don‘t think that your qualifications are...

    PRETC course.

Thats an awesome campsite...gotta love it when people know there stuff. Looked pretty professional, rucks lined up, sled at the tent opening. A+ PS. When you build a shelter (spelling: quinzee?), allow it to sit for a day before hollowing it out, it will be much stronger.

    Connaught near Ottawa

They also have a rappel tower and a gym. The current mess, compared to Trenton‘s Yukon, rates at a 3 (with the yukon being a 10). Not a bad location though...
