    Officer at 16/17?

Well said, and if I can also add to this, it is also important to know who your experts are, and to listen to the people who know more than you.

They won't be there Thursday, so you had best go to the shore office.

    Posting Preference?? AHH!

I highly doubt Freddie will be doing her sea trials in the fall, she will have only just come out of the ditch by then. Halifax came out months ago and still will not be sailing any time soon. Van Stoker, If you want an East Coast ship that will actually sail, your best bet is either Toronto or...

    Status on Victoria-class Submarines?

Yeah I understand that subs are not like surface ships and that the space for trainees onboard is very limited, it's just frustrating to get briefings saying that we need more people to volunteer for training, and then when I ask about it I'm told basically "come back in a couple years when...

    Status on Victoria-class Submarines?

They aren't the worst off compared to some trades, and subs only have two engineers; the EO and the CSEO, which is why they want you to be HOD qualified first. I plan on talking to my career manager about it when I see him, I figure if I'm going to a shore posting next fall anyways, I thought I...

    Status on Victoria-class Submarines?

I've talked to submariners about it and mentioned to them that I want to volunteer for sub training, and the response is usually "That's great, but you need to be HOD qualified first." I guess I'll have to wait a few more years first then...

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

A lot of those contracts for that type of equipment will go to foreign companies as well, since not a lot of that type of equipment is made in Canada. That includes companies like Thales, Saab, Raytheon, BAE Systems, and Rheinmetall, which are already providing a lot of equipment for HCM/FELEX.

For those who haven't seen this yet, a submariner friend of mine linked this to me, enjoy! HMCS CORNER BROOK

    Interesting Navy find...

Purple for engineering, it all makes sense now. Perhaps that is why some engineering officers on ship insist on signing everything in purple ink. Or it could just be them I suppose...  ::)

    General Navy Questions

I concur with this, the lockers are bigger than they seem. When I was with the ship and we made a port visit in the US, I was able to cram in an extra shopping cart worth of stuff on top of the kit I brought with me no problem. You just have to get creative with how you use the space  ;D

WHEN IS the next Naval Officer Assessment Board (NOAB) ?

How about you wait until the board of inquiry produces its findings before speculating on the nature of the incident, since you don't know the circumstances yourself.

    BMOQ May 2011

My serial had three leadership platoons, L11,12,13, and two of them were in green sector, one in blue. It's just where they have space when you are starting. Green sector is better though imho: laundry on the floor and you work more as a team because you can't hermit in your cubicle. Just me...

    BMOQ May 2011

L is for Leadership Division, R for Recruit Division. Why they have BMOQ platoons with R numbers, I guess that will be for you to find out...

    NETPO Living arrangements

That doesn't seem so bad really. When we arrived fresh off the plane from St. Jean they basically told us that they would provide us a room in Russell House (that we would have to pay for, along with the overpriced rations in Juno) for thirty days maximum until we found an apartment off base...

    NETPO Living arrangements

True enough, but since he said netp-o I am assuming he is talking about the officer course, and they don't have lodgings for officers on base, at least not that they like to let you have anyways.

    NETPO Living arrangements

You are not necessarily 'required' to live on base, depends on your situation. A couple of people on my course were living off base, but they were both MARS, and hence were going to be spending a lot of time there. If you are an engineer you will only be there for the course and then back to...

    Naval Officer Assessment Board

If you want to play it safe you can address them by Sir/Ma'am or their rank, if they want you to use their first name they will tell you so. Personally I hate it when other officers call me Sir, civvies even more so...

    Naval Officer Assessment Board

You are stressing this way too much, just relax, enjoy it, and be yourself, that is the best thing you can do.
