    Naval Officer Assessment Board

It really depends on the Officer who is running the board, but basically they ask you a couple questions, ask you if you have any questions, and then ask you if you are still interested in joining. If you say yes and they have an offer for you, they will tell you so, if not they will ask you if...

What's the CF like for women in 2010?

Well I don't consider myself an authority on this topic, but I can give you some idea from my experience so far. 1) CE or LogO are not terribly physically demanding jobs, so once you make it through BMOQ you are good to go as long as you pass your PT test every year. I had a couple of very...

    CSE Mess Dinner

I didn't know the CSE's had their own mess dinner, I thought it was only the NTO mess dinner in the spring.

I'll send you a link to the presentation tomorrow when I am at my computer.

New replacements for HMCS Iroquois, HMCS Algonquin and HMCS Athabaskan?

At least they will be attempting to rectify some of the issues with the crews washplaces & heads (specifically No. 3), and most of the offices will be getting more desk space, so it's not all bad :D

New replacements for HMCS Iroquois, HMCS Algonquin and HMCS Athabaskan?

If you have access to the DIN you can look up the HCM project website which has a presentation on the engineering changes that will be made regarding habitability on the CPF's, including drawings of the new arrangements. One of the big things will be the conversion of the majority of officers'...

WHEN IS the next Naval Officer Assessment Board (NOAB) ?

I'm going to say you'll probably have to do NOAB, my buddy was a stoker in the reserves and he had to do it.

    EME vs. MSE

Well I can't speak to EME, but I can tell you a little bit about MSE from my limited experience. First of all, realize that Naval Engineers have just about the least sea time of any trade in the Navy. Most likely I will never spend more than 4 years posted to a ship, and if I get ONE six moth...

    NCD Ballcaps

Hmmm, I'm at a loss then, if they didn't want you to wear it, why would they let you buy it... I guess some people just have their own way of doing things, right or wrong...

    International Fleet Review (Halifax)

Yes that is Karlsruhe on the right, and Montreal on the left. I was on the focsle of Montreal when that was taken.

    To and From base.

Also from a practicality standpoint, Sea boots are frankly not very good for walking in. They are very heavy due to the steel toe and all the protection they need to have, they are stiff, and the waterproof lining means they don't breathe very well. My combat boots from basic training are great...

    To and From base.

CADPAT is for the Army and Airforce, the Navy equivalent to CADPAT is NCD's, as soon as you finish basic you give back everything green.

Naval Officers Once Again to Wear the Executive Curl

Thought some people might like to see the new stripes compared to Admirals from other navies. I found this picture on the US CNO's website, it was taken in Halifax while all the Admirals were here for the fleet review. Enjoy! As an aside: the CMS looks much sharper with the new curl on his...

    New to the Navy

Well said Pusser. The only people who really have time to drink at sea are the people who work day shifts; even being in a 1 in 4 doesn't allow a lot of time to have a few wets and get all your other personal stuff done.

    New to the Navy

Extension to what Ex Dragoon said, the vending machine with beer is in the Master Seamen and below mess, the Chief and PO's mess and the Wardoom just have a fridge with beer in it.

Naval Officers Once Again to Wear the Executive Curl

Or what about non-navy personnel serving on board HMC ships, like firefighters, which is always an air force trade, yet all ships have a department of them on board. As well most supply departments contain a good variety of air force and army personnel.
