High Speed Train Coming?-split from boosting Canada’s military spending"

You pick your mode of transportation based on intention. If I planned to visit the areas around Quebec, I might have taken my truck and found lodging in Levis. Instead, I chose the train, and spent my 5 days in Old Quebec. If a HSR option existed, I'd have taken it, so I didn't waste so much...

Sexual Assault & Sexual Misconduct in the CF

100%, because it's written into the DAOD. I suspect the intentions were good, but this flies in the face of how we are expected to operate in every other situation. Imagine if we conducted any other investigation on the assumption that the person is guilty unless they can prove their innocence...

Sexual Assault & Sexual Misconduct in the CF

Unless an Ex decides to say that you exerted an undue influence from a different unit/position/rank... Then, according to policy, you need to prove you didn't negatively impact their career. They just need to make an accusation, and by policy you are guilty until you prove yourself innocent.

Sexual Assault & Sexual Misconduct in the CF

The thing that stood out to me is that idea that if it is discovered that you had a relationship with someone in the past that was not declared, you're assumed to be guilty of adversely hurting someone's career. So if 10 years ago you dated someone that was a lower rank, you are now assumed to...

Sexual Assault & Sexual Misconduct in the CF

Nobody has argued that there doesn't need to be policy... Nobody has argued that power imbalanced can't/don't exist. We have argued that the new policy has the potential to create problems, and will not solve problems that the former policies couldn't.

Sexual Assault & Sexual Misconduct in the CF

That isn't the policy though, both parties have to disclose, which is getting into the private life of Jr pers who can have their personal relationship used against them by the CoC, just as easily as a Snr person can use the relationship against them. Also, the CAF is big. Too many seem to be...

Sexual Assault & Sexual Misconduct in the CF

Agreed, but is forcing people to disclose their private lives the best way to prevent that? A Col or CWO that wants to influence someone's career will do it whether or not they have declared their relationship. 100% agreed. I'm just sceptical that this will do anything to prevent it, though it...

Sexual Assault & Sexual Misconduct in the CF

I see the goal, but I agree that it seems a bit of an overreach. For people in different units/occupations, it's just an invasion of their privacy. A Sgt Image Tech has no power over a Cpl MMT in a different unit.

High Speed Train Coming?-split from boosting Canada’s military spending"

Depends. When I went to Quebec we walked... Sometimes parking costs more than an Uber/Taxi... It's all dependant on what you want, and what you're willing to pay for convenience. I fail to see how a taxi from a slow train is cheaper than a taxi from HSR, so I don't se what you're going for...

High Speed Train Coming?-split from boosting Canada’s military spending"

Posted to Trenton you have a car. You're 2.5 hours from Kanata along the 7, or 3 hours from Orleans via the 401/416/417. HSR isn't going to impact your life. More VIA trains aren't either, unless you're a drunk and can't stay sober enough to drive from Trenton to Ottawa or Toronto before...

Potentially, which is why I admit that it is possible it's AI slop. As I said before though, there are too many small details right to make me believe it's a fake. AI tends to make big errors with uniforms, and turn he sky cartoonish. The clouds look period photography correct, to an extent I...

I went to the source site, and downloaded it. It's not super clear, but it is there though grainy. I compared the graininess in the writing to the clouds, and they both seemed to match for removing the sharpness. I then looking into RCN uniforms of the period, and found examples of that style...

I am. At first glance it looks wrong but when I downloaded the image and zoomed in, it is grainy but clearly says H.M.C.S CAPE SCOTT on the Kisby ring, and the uniforms check out for POs, and sailors. MP Museum examples. I had an uncle who had been a bandsman back in the 60s (long story)...

I saw lots of people dragging bags to ride VIA from Quebec to Ottawa/Montreal last March break, so I suspect you may not be entirely correct.

Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

Sweden and Canada exist in very different realities. Sweden has very real and recent history with majors wars in it's neighbourhood, Canada doesn't. Sweden has to face the reality of a possible invasion by a hostile force that is within Sweden's ability to defend against, Canada does not...

The response to any incursion in the arctic is not going to be the navy. The RCAF will have weapons on site in hours, not days/weeks, like the navy would require.

An armed CCG/RCN ship isn't going to sink a Chinese ship conducting hybrid ops. If shooting isn't happening, having guns doesn't matter. I'm not suggesting we don't need an armed presence int he arctic, I'm just highlighting the reality that more sensors in the arctic is a massive bonus, even...

    The Arctic

The key to engaging enemies is knowing where they are, that doesn't take an armed system outside of open war. Adding CCG sensors to the CAF/GoC MDA is a massive step towards defending our maritime approaches. This is the unsexy work done by staff in Ottawa that gets dismissed by people who don't...
