    Continental Defence Corvette

I recently found my cassette Well, I just recently found my copy of Tears For Fears “Songs From A Big Chair” on cassette. Plays as sweet as it did in 86. I have a right to be optimistic…

    Continental Defence Corvette

Would it be so outlandish to suggest dusting off the plans for the HALIFAX class and knocking out 8-9 new build versions?

    Canadian River Class Destroyer Megathread

I hope the integration de risking doesn’t also mean swapping out the 30mm lionfish for 25mm mk38…

Wondered that too. Thought maybe it’s an edge for kss3.

    Canadian River Class Destroyer Megathread

No doubt, but was I was getting at is more in terms of role than a line by line comparison between an Iroquois and a River. I would naturally expect a vessel designed almost 60 years ago (though updated later) to have less capability to detect, process and prosecute. Maybe the answer lies in...

    Canadian River Class Destroyer Megathread

It actually does help, 😂… the part that bothers me, is that it feels like the ship is turning into an exceptional ASW vessel, with strong ASuW credentials, but isn’t fully stepping into the role that the 280’s once played, though the situational awareness, comms and networking probably make it a...

    Canadian River Class Destroyer Megathread

Here’s hoping there’s some positive trade off in swapping out the main gun. I have to say my enthusiasm is waning a bit for this ship, in certain respects. I know it’s going to be a generational leap over the HALIFAX and I know it’s going to be a world class sub hunter. The issue is that it...

I would also assume it’s for redundancy purposes?

Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

I’m just hoping it sticks and that the stink of past political changeability hasn’t jaded industry in the same way as it has many of us on these threads. To be clear, I’m cautiously optimistic myself. There’s evidence of much more engagement with industry as of late, though it seemed as even...

Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

It’s not me that you’ll have to convince, unfortunately. It’ll be risk averse capitalists that’ll have to buy in.

Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

But can you get investors to believe the money will continue to rain down? I’m certain many of them are skittish that a change of governments (either here or elsewhere) will interrupt that flow and all their efforts (read investments) will be undone. I’m sure that’s sunk businesses before.

We also have them on buses and billboards in Ottawa.

Not to mention radar, other sensors and EW suites etc…How fast could you realistically put your hands on the rest of the package beyond hulls and weapons.

Navy to potentially create training ships on great lakes

That’s the one I was referring to. It is replacing the ARUN class and is about 15’ longer than the CAPE class.

Navy to potentially create training ships on great lakes

I keep coming back to the CCG Bay class. But, i don’t believe it has any berths for longer duration missions.

Navy to potentially create training ships on great lakes

Yes, that’s actually the class I meant to reference, rather than the Capes. I believe they’re predominantly made at Hike and Forillon and so shouldn’t be a drag on any of the big boys to try and fit into their build schedules. Can you speak to their seakeeping in big water, like North Atlantic...

Navy to potentially create training ships on great lakes

I had a question regarding possible vessels for this proposal. Would there be any sense in using the same 47’ Cape Class Life Boat as the CCG, at least on the lakes/Seaway, or is that too small for the role?
