Canada to Spend $5.0Bil on AEW Aircraft (Saab Globaleye)

I assume we're looking at a Global soj in the image. I'm just a little racist with aircraft. A lot of them look the same to me.

    Continental Defence Corvette

HFX carries 16 ESSM2. And only ESSM2 because it uses the Mk52 (?) single missile launchers. A 24 tactical length VLS would be able to carry between 24 SM family missiles and 96 ESSM2. Strike length could carry the whole naval missile family.

Are they doing the crewing model with an eye to the new trade structure? As on PRO we have no clue how the new trade structure will impact us and we already know the model. CDC is cutting so close to the bone there is a high likelihood of getting things wrong with no wiggle room because of...

    Replacing the Subs

Canada will have full control. That's a pretty common thing in our purchases.

If they up the VLS to 24 then it's gonna be shootyfax not minifax.

The new Sea Giraffe 4A has fixed arrays and I believe its going on the new Finish Pohjanmaa class corvette. As does the Germans with their Hendsolt TRS 4D. Actually the Saab had a ship design for the CDC at CANSEC as well. They used the same mast design as for the Pohjanmaa class. The Saab...

That Seaspan model was stated to be already out of date based on Seaspans new designs (CANSEC reporting... they just wanted to have a model there to show they were working on stuff I think). Noah is reporting that CDC is upping the VLS requirement from 16. Which means likely 24 as they go in 8...

Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle - RG-31, LAV Coyote, and (partial) G-Wagon Replacement

From Noah on True North Strategic Ok integrated UAS could be an interesting thing here... but the first half (30mm and such) what the actual $#*%? Need more information but I have no idea what you would do with one of those (perhaps the 30mm is for shooting down drones??)

Canada to Spend $5.0Bil on AEW Aircraft (Saab Globaleye)

It hasn't been announced. There is a specific line in the documentation that says this relationship doesn't constitute a purchase. It's essentially an agreement to give us a look under the hood. Of course who's kidding who. This will probably lead to a purchase.

    Replacing the Subs

Friend of mine was one of the first guys to fly the F-18 when they took his CF104 away. He stated that a good chunk of the Airforce wanted the F-15 and that a lot of NATO air forces though we were crazy to buy a "naval aircraft" as our land based fighter. Then they say the performance and all...

Canada to Spend $5.0Bil on AEW Aircraft (Saab Globaleye)

Yah that would be an advantage. So what you're saying is that once we get these aircraft we need to leverage the Saab IP for sensors to build a C series equivalent of the E-7.... lol. Airbus sure (50.01% actually), but the planes are built in Mirabel.

Canada to Spend $5.0Bil on AEW Aircraft (Saab Globaleye)

I suspect that given some of the capabilities inherent in the E7 that may not be in the Global Eye (GE) there could be an argument for the purchase of more airframes or different airframes. Example is that the E7 radar say covers more airspace, or have longer endurance. As such in order to...

    Replacing the Subs

I understand. I think if we continue to do things like this submarine contract, where the military narrows the selection down to two acceptable options, and then hands it over to the public service to do their calculations things will be better. Though there is some potential for problems...

    Ukraine Skif

Ukraines usage of the M113 is particular. It's commonly used for supply and med runs to the front lines at night, where there is a rapid exchange of people, ammo, food and then a sprint back to safety before the ISR finds them and artillery or drones hit. Aluminum armour is probably perfectly...

    Replacing the Subs

Not even close. Where the hell did you read that out of what I wrote? The DIS is there to give Canada jobs and ensure that we have control over as much of our defence as possible. Any government doing that correctly will get "more votes" but in this case it's a side effect not the design.

    Replacing the Subs

The Euro relationship will continue whether we get the KSS or not. But the Korean relationship may be harder to solidify without it. That being said I think the defining point of the decision is what the industrial benifits look like. DIS will be the template on which this decision will be made.

AOR Replacement & the Joint Support Ship (Merged Threads)

PRO is delayed enough and PRE is ahead enough that they might be less than six months apart. Honestly this might turn into a Halifax/Vancouver situation at this point... PRO also has way more first of class trials to do that PRE won't need to do. The retain Asterix.campaign will fail based...

I think it looks amazing. And meets the RFI. Bunch of tracked simps over on this thread. (ducks for cover as rounds incoming expected... lol). Seriously though, its friggin huge.
