One significant barrier to overcome would be the new (2015) bridge across the canal. The original bridge was a high level structure built at Deif's insistance because he never trusted the Americans. We'd have to go with a lift bridge or tunnel like Beauharnois.
It would be expensive, but not impossible, to bypass the Snell and Eisenhower Locks and the Wiley Dondero Canal which links them and have an all-Canadian seaway. This was Dief's intent when the builders left a large potion of the old Cornwall Canal intact.
Same here. When I worked at the Montreal Mail Centre I was in at 0545 and out by 1400 just to beat the infamous delays on the Ile aux Tourte Bridge out of the west island to Vaudreuil-Dorion.
When my kids were growing up, we had the extended body 4 WD Aerostar. If you took out the bench seats you could easily put 4'X8' material sheets flat in the back. I loved that van.
According to the CBC article, he faced 29 Criminal Code and Customs Act charges. Unfortunately, the article just states he pled guilty but not to what of the 29 charges were pled to.
Agreed.
I wasn't going down that road, just pointing out a potential service offence. I'm sure there will be an AR following this, if it hasn't been done already.
NDA 92, maybe? Scandalous Conduct by Officers? Might be a stretch, but I don't recall seeing this in CM of late. The last published trial of NDA 92 I could find was in 2008.
Sorry, I'm with @brihard on this one. He's a gun smuggler who has embarrassed the CAF, betrayed his commission and cast a bad light on all lawful gun owners.
If the CAF retains him (doubtful) his usefulness is seriously impaired.
Some fresh social media posts today are talking about a possible cabinet shuffle. Some Liberal insiders believes that Nathalie Provost has been "underused" in her current portfolio. Read into that what you want, but it's likely not good.
