TKMS Type 212CD (Victoria class replacement megathread)

Likely the result of the “Peace Dividend “ following the end of the Cold War. Countries slashed their defense budgets and lost much of the skilled labour, researchers, project planers and engineers needed to run complex projects.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

There is no F/T-7 variant. Given all the delays to the trainer, I don’t believe USAF ever issued an RFI for a fighter variant.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

The fact that most of our fleets are viewed as antiques certainly doesn’t help. The RCAF is trying to attract recruits in their 20’s to fly aircraft that are in their 30’s or older. Good grief. The same can be said about the navy and army. We don’t even have enough housing for the current...

Navy to potentially create training ships on great lakes

I’m not sure what Bay class you are referring to. The current CCG bay class has 18 vessels in service with 2 more coming. Built by Hike Metal & Wheatley Chantier. https://inter-j02.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fdat/vessels/152

The LCS and Constellation class are both manufactured on Lake Michigan and carry the Bofors 57. Our Halifax that typical cruise the Great Lakes for recruiting late summer, as we all know sports the 57. Navy to potentially create training ships on great lakes

That can’t possibly still apply. Marinette Marine is building (Little Crappy Ships & Constellation) warships on Lake Michigan. During the war years both countries built loads of war ships on the Great Lakes and trained on the Great Lakes.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Sad fact. CF-18 was ordered and began deliveries by P.E.T. government. 7 Prime Ministers later its replacement was ordered by his son. 8 Prime Ministers later the F-35 deliveries begin. Yeesh.

We are also adding a capability that we never had of our own; AEW&C aircraft. Yes, we contributed to NATO’s E3 program.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Just noticed I typed an incorrect number. We have 5 Polaris not 3. My dog likes to help sometimes. Apologies. Still we are getting twice the number of aircraft available for AAR or troop transport, plus they are higher capacity and will be able to support both types of AAR. Truly a win-win.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

In some areas we are getting larger numbers: 9 Huskies to replace 3 Polaris. 16 (possibly more) P-8 Poseidon to replace 14 Auroras, adding 11 of MQ9B Guardians. Helicopters , I’m not sure where that is headed. There’s a thread for that. The size of the F35 fleet was sized to NORAD and NATO...
