    Quick Google search shows no sign of a Mexican naval frigate program, and the US is developing the FF(X), so I think this is aimed at CDC. Like I mentioned in my original post, this suggests the Germans are under the impression the 105m restriction may have been lifted.

    That's being replaced by a new light frigate class known as FF(X), which will be based on the US Coast Guard’s HII Ingalls Shipbuilding Legend-class National Security Cutter design. So, I still think this is being aimed at CDC, unless there is another NA frigate program (Mexico perhaps?).

    I think it's about 400 tons more submerged (2400 vs 2800). Also, the "beam" figure is a bit deceptive, as that includes the outer "stealth" hull. The pressure hull dimension is the one that will be interesting to know, as that what defines the actual useable crew space.

    That's another whole different problem from delivery, but certainly valid. Of note the first sub is launcing next year, for delivery in 2029, so it appears they have built in a good margin for test and bug fixes.

    The main determinant is the participation of the German and Norwegian governments, who have offered at least 2 and possibly 3 of their production slots to Canada. Where this just TKMS, I would agree with your skepticism.

    Interesting article from a German source, in which can be found confirmation that Canada will receive 4 boats by 2024, and that TKMS will have two yards capably of building 1.5 boats per year, but planned to build even quicker than that...
