    Transcript Question.

I assume you've already seen this (http://www.hwdsb.on.ca/students/student_records/index.aspx), but I'll throw it out there anyway. $20 for the first transcript, $5 for each additional one. Same price as mine :) (YRDSB)

Applying to York University while it's on strike

It was January I was planning on starting in. I wouldn't mind a couple-week delay, but I don't want to get into a situation where I've received and paid out my OSAP only to have the term cancelled or something annoying like that. Thanks for the help! If I have any questions I'll pass 'em along.

    Gates officially kept as SECDEF

To be honest, my knowledge is limited (and, in retrospect, my comment was probably out of line given my relative inexperience in these sorts of things.); As I understood it, Bush is the Commander-in-Chief and therefore would appoint the Secretary of Defence. I assume both of them had a role in...

Applying to York University while it's on strike

York University is currently on strike. I have to head down there on Wednesday to apply there (iBA in History) I'm kind of anxious about it because it's on strike and I'll still have to pony up the dough even if no classes are going on. I also had an outstanding application to Laurentian but due...

    Gates officially kept as SECDEF

That doesn't sound very good to servicemen/women who voted on "Change you can believe in"; they believed in Obama, not Bush.

Florida law allows non-prior service civilians to wear mil. uniforms in public!!

This is a case of bad law writing. The court knows what the law was intended for, but they also know what it stands as written. Canada (or at least Ontario) has had similr problems. Before (1999?) if someone forged your housing documents and took a new mortgage out on your house, the homeowner...

    Trade Question

To be honest I think the "everyone" part refers to civvies as opposed to military personnel. Canadian society (at least the part of it I've been exposed too) has been "prepped" into believing that University is better than a high school diploma, and that more money is better than less money...

    Trade Question

They would pay for you because you're paying them back with obligatory service. It's like an extended loan. The CF has a much greater need for things like Dental and Medical Officers than they do Dental Technicians, so they're willing to pay to send you to a Dental/Medical school (and/or to...

I was just joking around, but you spelled "really" wrong. (I'll stop now, really.)

Quotation marks should be directly beside the question it they qualify. That would be "yes"; there should be a quotation mark after "cookie"; Peanut is not a proper noun and so should not be capitalized. Edit for own grammar.

    Canadian Military Slang

I've noticed several of these acronyms being tossed around, for example REMF (Rear Echelon Mother F-----) and FNG (F--ing New Guy). I've also seen relatively new members to the CF being chided for their use. Do you think that's appropriate? I personally shy away from the terms but are there an...

[Answered] Applying to multiple branches (Services)

Just something I noticed while going through the CF online application, you can't apply to multiple branches. If you choose that you'd "prefer to be in an Army uniform", (mind you, which uniform you want is a required question, there's no "Purple"), you can't apply for Imagery Tech or Boatswain...

I believe the passing mark of the CFAT qualifies you for Int Infantry and four or five other trades. Not sure what they are though.

How to get family on board

Well, hitchhiking is definitely not the best way to go, but I have sorted things out and will be enlisting (with my parents agreeing to visit with a recruiter) once I meet the prereqs for my trade. So thanks for all the help :)

CF Equivalencies and Accreditations - Q&A

Ooh, so the "P" stands for Preventative? The PRes ruined me for acronyms. Every "P" is Primary to me ::)

Marks / Grades: School / GED or PLAR [MERGED]

Yes, there is that. As an example, Humber (http://postsecondary.humber.ca/07651.htm) will accept Grade 11U Bio and Chem and Grade 12C Math (all of which I have, though my science marks aren't stellar) along with admissions testing for Grade 12 Bio and Chem.

CF Equivalencies and Accreditations - Q&A

Ooh. I knew the PA program was big in the US (along with Nurse Practitioners) but I didn't know anything about any Canadian PA programs/employers. No thread hijacking intentioned: What's the difference between a PMed Tech and a Med Tech?
