Howre the fires across the rest of the West? Been a quiet summer in MB. Lots of rain lately.

Egypt would probably be Europe's red line. Theyre so dependent on the Suez and chaos in Egypt would make the Syrian migrant crisis look like onesies and twosies. Egypt is far larger (120MM people), far less educated, far more radical and far poorer than Syria was pre-war.

I just dont see it happening. This sort of buildout needs to come from the top and its obvious 2 Div is de-prioritized. I hope Im just being cynical but in the meantime Ill expect to continue to operate in our 120ish year old building.

What is requirement to keep one there as opposed to keeping crypto assets at their local support base? How does a new building for the Royal Newfoundland Regiment change those response times? Local leadership absolutely has a say. In my neck of the woods a room is getting gutted, over a dozen...

I wont pretend to know what is required for a crypto vault but if we can have crypto vaults on what are essentially open bases with cheap curtain wall (non-load bearing wall material, most metal-framed buildings) construction, I think we can manage that in two-three foot thick brick walls that...

Youre overreacting a bit Kevin. What kind of security do you expect a light coy to need that they dont already have? There are lockups, ORs, coy offices, classrooms, gyms, messes, quarters, etc. Depot whatever vehicles they get (LFE, etc) at the closest training base and what else do they need?

Exactly. Sounds like a great job for some bright, young staff officer looking to make a splash in the defence of the homeland.

They dont all need to be relocated. Can an older armoury still be situable for a light infantry coy/bn? Probably with some retrofits. Are they situable for service bns? Probably not, so build a purpose built facility. Im sure that 100 armoury list becomes 25-30 needing outright replacement with...

They can be co-located on bases, rationalized and consolidated. Instead of two armouries, Winnipeg could probably make do with one larger armoury somewhere on the 17 Wing footprint instead as an example. Its a worthwhile endeavour if this network of armouries is supposed to be the backbone of...

Or - we just build purpose built infrastructure. Fuck working in a sears, why dont we just build functional armouries like we did 120 years ago?

That RCN rank thing is a real bee in your bonnet eh? 😂

Lots of conflicting reporting at the moment. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-european-union-eu-membership-poilievre-trump-tariffs-usa-9.7342604

No. No confirmation Ive seen. Ive seen maybe 4 PLDG, 4 CAR (Canadian Armoured Regiment) and spitballing re-activating mothballed regular regiments like 8CH or FGH. Most likely appears to be PLDG

We cant get the support to fix trucks within a three-year timeframe, its rich to think that the Reserves is anything other than exactly what Ottawa wants it to be.

Solution? "Battle override on" 😉

They usually do over there.

Looks like Roshel is getting ready. Factory Memo with Stellantis Gift Link

Ive been working on a briefing note to try and get two bays of our four bay TAPV barn converted into a maint depot for the local Svc Bn, the need is coming whether we're ready or not. Not like we're gonna have more than two working TAPVs at a time anyways lol.

Tale as old as time haha. What are the big things missing? Hoists/lifts? Smaller stuff like tooling?

With TOCA officially on the books, lots of challenges coming up for the MO. The most important one imo is the restoration of admin coys/HQ sqns at the unit level and expansion of second-line at Svc Bns. I know @MilEME09 has reserve maint experience, anyone else along with him have any insight on...
