The need for tactical highly visible rank (From:Re-Royalization)

Nothing screams insecurity more than having a shiny badge attached to a piece of kit you'll likely never wear for real just so people don't forget how important you are.

    Is the LAV 3 amphibious?

Sorry When you don't take part in expeditionary wars for 10 years straight on a shoestring budget, you find the time to do things like swim APC's.

Criminal Records Check - CRC (Merged)

Absolutely right Occam, my mistake. The rest stands though. Criminal record? =  pretty well down the list for 'people the CF would like to hire'. Good luck.

Criminal Records Check - CRC (Merged)

Have you read any of the above? You will need a pardon as well as any other judicial restrictions being lifted, and even then you will find yourself with a considerable disadvantage compared to other recruits who carried themselves within the boundaries of the law.

    Is the LAV 3 amphibious?

Easy to say, but you try convincing a driver that it's necessary to clean and silicone lube every bit of rubber on a hatch. That's assuming it's still there, I recall looking at most hatch seals (not the dragoon kind either hahahahahaha) and thinking 'hmm, if we get in a CBRN threat environment...

    Is the LAV 3 amphibious?

Indeed, any displacement that the LAV III may inherently have is negated by the quantity of fluids normally resident in the hull. That and the fact it would leak like a sieve. Those rubber seals are not the best maintained part of the vehicle.

    How to go? JTF2-Combat Diver-Clearance-Commercial ???

He's also making the assumption that he's not a complete bag'o'sh*e either. Or medically fit for all that. And I really wish I would stop seeing sage advice from people with their stages of the recruitment process posted as their signature.

    NBC Training

EMS do patient care in CBRN environments. Cops do Ident/EOD/and anything tactical....Everything else (analysis, rescue, decon, mitigation) is, or should be, Fire Department. Ottawa Fire Services runs a pretty extensive Haz-mat program, with access to the Canadian Police College, Suffield, and a...

    Help Leading Seaman Guevremont

Bit of a tangent here, but I've isolated your two points above to add my 2c. It's all well and good to say the system is fair, but when nominations don't go above the sub-unit level, then it's pointless writing them . For example, you could jump on a grenade, saving a orphanage in the process...

Fitness for Operational Requirements of CAF Employment ( FORCE )

And that mindset is probably a large factor in the burgeoning obesity epidemic in the forces. As GW stated, you don't understand why soldiers will always need to do 'the basics'.

    Remembrance Day

Well said sir, well said. Reference the bit in red - I was particularly incensed to watch, as the personal wreaths were laid at the end of the local ceremony in our town, a wreath laid for a Mr. XXXX and his grandson Xxxxxx.......... I responded to the fatal MVC that killed this grandson (mid...

    Remembrance Day

Anyone catch the CDS mis-identifying the unit of his wreath-laying guest at the start of CBC's coverage of the national ceremony? ' Cpl M*****, of 37 Construction Engineer Regiment....'???

    Remembrance Day

Sorry, not to nitpick, but you're missing my point. Rememberance Day has feck all to do with my or anyone elses service, it is about the fallen from wars and overseas operations, and ensuring that the memory of their sacrifice ensures. That's it. Save the thanks for Red Fridays.

    Remembrance Day

You should have learned in school that today is not about veterans at all. It is about the fallen, those who didn't make it home. Not slapping every dude/dudette in uniform on the back in an attempt to join the SOT bandwagon.

can you join the infanty reserve and also take medication for mild anxiety

To the OP and Wilmot - The military is a profession where PEOPLE DIE. We either make others expire or are at risk ourselves of DYING. Some trades more than others, but the fact remains is that if you choose this profession, you must accept that you will possibly be put in far more horrendous...

Psst.... Hey you... Yeah, you, the crazy guy on the street corner with the sandwich board and messy hair.... ...I've got a secret for you..... Nobody cares. Go find somewhere else to be off your meds.
