Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

Memory fades since it has been a l-o-o-o-n-g time since I was in high school but I recall that our shop teachers, all of whom came from their professions, took a summer 'how to be a teacher' course, and perhaps some seminars, and they only taught shop. Now, it's a big move if they have to take...

    Quebec Election

I won't do the research but I'll betcha that 'sovereignist' and 'separatist' are terms using heavily, and probably interchangeably, but the respective proponents. In Quebec, sovereignty has been a favoured term dating back to the heady days of 'sovereignty association' (out but still in)...

Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

If CAF is using public college to augment or supplement in-house training, and it can exercise a sufficient level of control on the curriculum, then that's good. Concepts such as augmentation is different than 'handing over to', and maybe I was missing the details. In terms of actual trade...

That would have been her. Up until last year, the place had a staff of one (now it has two). It seems nobody has clue about 'the hole'.

Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

I'm not sure I am, but my exposure is limited to Ontario and in the law enforcement field. As far as accreditation goes, I have no insight into that. There are lot of colleges (originally called 'community colleges') that are now degree granting institutions, which further clouds the issue...

Canadian Air Ambulance missing off US coast

Ontario provides emergency medical transport, land or air, within the province. The only place I can think of where Ornge might transport to a destination outside of the province would be to Winnipeg from n/w Ontario simply because it might be the closest trauma centre...

I'm not sure you want that. Over time, any CAF involvement will be replaced by 'professional academics' who will decide what the CAF needs. Eventually, it will have no input to the output and not like the product it produces. The CAF would be better to partner with the unions and trade councils.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

A lot of the CAF has always been in the boonies, and bases and stations were a lot more self-contained than they are now. We live in North Bay (~53000 pop.). Our daughter runs the museum on CFB North Bay. The base is a lot smaller than it used to be - around 700 total - with no flying...

Also exercised to protect domestic industries, such as wineries, and to protect labour markets. Barriers can be direct, such as limiting the amount of BC wine available in Ontario, or indirect, such as Quebec demanding that trades by fluent in French and French technical documents.

CAN-USA Tariff Strife (split from various pol threads)

Everything will unfold as intended - after the mid-terms. It's like the joke about listening to a country and western song played backwards ('you get your wife back, your truck back . . . ). After the mid-terms, he will defeat Iran, fuel prices will come down, food prices will come down, trade...

27 Sep 2026 - British counterterrorism op near RAF Fairford

It's the historic way the UK approaches most things 'national', particularly as it relates to policing and security. It dates back to the days when the London Metropolitan Police was far and away the largest police service, with the rest of the country being an assortment of small village and...

27 Sep 2026 - British counterterrorism op near RAF Fairford

Counter Terrorism Policing in the UK is a separate entity, although Gloucestershire Constabulary might have members seconded to it. I suspect the largest contributory 'territorial' police service would be The Met. They might have been watching the group but lacked enough intelligence on the...
