Canadian modular assault rifle project, a C7 replacement?

Colt Optics has now publicly released their initial optics line up. Interestingly no 1-6 LPVO mentioned at all, only 1-8. Either Canada has decided to contract a Canadian only bespoke optic or the CAF releases had an error. Details on their website: VMR 1-8x28 - Colt Optics Press release...

Canadian modular assault rifle project, a C7 replacement?

I’m not sure this component of the Colt CZ Group is Canadian, I believe a lot of its key players are American. The CEO was the CEO previously of EOTECH. This is an example of their product although this LPVO is 1-8 not 1-6.

    Iran Super Thread- Merged

I doubt Canada can make the decision quickly enough nor deploy quickly enough to gain experience before the threat is mostly removed. Looking at the the Times of Israel, it seems Iran has fired 500 ballistic missiles and over 2000 drones, but the ballistic missile launches are already down over...

That aligns more to a narrative of direct support for the US operations than a defence of gulf states though. Militarily it may make sense, politically and diplomatically…. I suspect it’s a non starter.

    Canada's tanks

This Manoeuvre Div may, if all things progress on their current trajectory, have a weird force structure. 2 and 5 CMBG with 2 LAV 6 based infantry units and a tracked IFV based medium cav unit. Supported by a non tracked Cbt engineer unit? 1 CMBG with LAV 6 based infantry and two MBT equipped...

The Great Gun Control Debate- 2.0

Symbols are important and are chosen deliberately for government announcements etc. Note that the only two flags used during this announcement were the Cdn flag and the Quebec flag. No other provincial flags were displayed despite this being billed as a national program vs a Quebec program...

Canadian modular assault rifle project, a C7 replacement?

For me the total number of 148,600 and the average of 81 rnds per person ( I agree that this is not real, many fired 0 some fired hundreds) is a useful baseline of average availability of resources to achieve marksmanship across the formation. In relation to the CMAR upgrades or PWT changes...

Canadian modular assault rifle project, a C7 replacement?

Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

Yes… however I think there is a gap between what that US Combatant Comd is discussing and what the C5ISRT projects were. As per this article on C5ISRT in the “Canadian Army Today” it was only in the last 2 years due to the CA modernization war games that it became obvious to the CA that a...

Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

Interesting interview. I think there is an underlying tension in the structural and equipment modernization efforts between getting the CA ready to fight in the next five years at the tactical and operational levels and the strategic desire to build out Canadian military industrial...
