Tactical combat casualty care ( TCCC )

Yessss........the beancounters and their self-aggrandizing, self-perpetuating beauracracy.  I love how they sit on shit like this and Light Forces doctrine so they can feel impotent........oops Freudian slip......important.  Fact is the troops at the coal face are quite adept at identifying...

Tactical combat casualty care ( TCCC )

Sorry to wade in on a discussion that is outside my area of expertise, but this latest from Janes strikes me as a sophism or 'circular logic'.   I would like to see some of you fine folks teach me and the boys some of this new shit before heading back over to the sandbox.   So if we all sit...

    Canadian excels on Ranger course

There was a time when the SF and Ranger tab where worn on the ODs but that started to go by the wayside even before CADPAT came out.   In my recent experience, including the recent men's x-mas dinner and subsequent 'at home to the Officers', the only place I see the tab worn is on DEU.

Is there a limit to the kind and amount to "kit" a member can have?

False.   There are many cases where NCMs - ie. support wpns operators - carry them.   Also they may be carried to task tailor the eqpt for certain missions or operations.   Generally, it's a side-arm or secondary weapon.   Very rarely, if ever, (nowdays) a primary weapon. WRT issue kit:   To...

    Thinking About A Ford???

    CF Basic Parachutist - Q&A

Honest answer: Yes, it is just as important as it is still the primary role of the Parachute Companies.   I will add though that although just as important an indoctrination process, there just isn't time, money, or whatever to make it an official course.   It now falls on the chain of command...

    CF Basic Parachutist - Q&A

Not that I'm attacking your post - because I think I understand your intent. As far as actual courses like the Airborne Indoctrination Course - that went by the wayside as an actual qual - you are in fact correct.   However, I would argue that they are in fact more 'qualified' in reality. They...

    Life as an Infantry Soldier?

The Army and particularily the Infantry is NOT a job - it's a way of life.  If you don't feel the calling to do something noble and rewarding with your life - that might just make the world a better place for generations to come - then find a 'real' job. The CF can be used as an extension of...

    Thinking About A Ford???

From personal experience: I have completely given up on domestics in the last 10 or 15 years.  In Somalia '93 I witnessed firsthand what a Toyota pickup is capable of in the worst of conditions and very little available repair facilities.  I picked up an '87 about 7yrs ago and drove it as a...

    On Killing

I feel that Infanteer has some very lucid observations in a very cloudy topic.  Bravo! once again my educated friend. I have read Grossman's works and continue to refer back to them from time to time.  For those wishing some free insight check out this website...

    Thinking About A Ford???

Nice ride Wes.  Shades of El Camino?  It's a 'Mad Max' world out there! "I am the Night Rider, a fuel-injected suicide machine"! I like the 'Pied Piper' effect the XR8 had in the ad video clip. Had to convert the power rating of the new 'utes' to understand just how much power they are...

    What is a Canadian Soldier?

Acorn, Very well said.  I too completely agree..............do you mind if I muddy the waters some more? When a soldier answers to a 'higher calling' is his nobility lessened by those that tag along for less altruistic reasons? Is the institution to blame for the few that serve only the one? ...

    Decompression yes/no

The biggest hurdle on the road to mental well-being always seems to be denial.  I would also add that the op tempo even increases during the period of handover which further exacerbates the problem of re-integration training in theater prior to re-deployment.  I was genuinely concerned about...

    Training Motivation

Sorry this reply took so long I was busy. So why did you have to qualify your advice with embellishment?  IIRC you brought out the resume........rather unnecessarily I believe. Giving advice is noble.............IF you know what the f*** you are talking about and you aren't stuck on permanent...
