On the prairies there are warehouse with office buildings almost everywhere. Oil &Gas love them and leave them. Fenced compounds. External pads, even plug in parking. Lease rather than use capital dollars

And as a former civilian employer any restructuring needs to deal with the issue of job protection. A few collective agreements cover military leave but most don't. And the majority of workplaces are not unionized

Setting aside the legal issues what impact does this have on the Snowbirds? Is there a spare pilot for the solo position or does the entire team stand down for the current performance season?
Would a Reserve squadron or separate flights adjacent to major commercial bases such as Calgary or Vancouver make more sense? More flight crew and maintainers, closer to Cold Lake and Comox.
