    Arty CP call sign

For an upcoming exercise we're deploying two separate firing units, guns & mortars, we are c/s 3.  The issue I have is twofold; 1.  IAW 371-4 (p.371) the main CP is 3A and the alt is 3B, and the CP in con drops its letter designator.  It seems that at some point we've fallen into the habit of...

    g-wagon crew commander

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, part of it is understanding the appropriate terminology used by the different trades.  Case in point, I should have said indirect-live fire exercise so as not to be mistaken for 'fire and movement'.  In the artillery virtually all of our exercises...

    Figure 11 Balloon

I just heard about these, and I'm wondering if anyone's worked with them in the past?  If so, in what situation and how did they perform?  Would you use them again? Apparently they're inflatable balloons with fig 11 inked on, and look much like a bowling pin once inflated.  Not a subsitute for...

    g-wagon crew commander

Thanks for the insight, it hadn't even occurred to me that they'd think that.  I just want the G-Wagon for it's superior mobility and veh mount radio.  Milcots get stuck fairly easily, and only a 1/4 of ours have radios.  I'll talk to their ops as you suggest and see if that's where the hangup...

    g-wagon crew commander

Thanks for the catch, removed the LSVW reference. I suspect the crew commander issue is in reference to the cupola, but I still wonder if this requirement is actually written down, or just SOP for the unit.  And does it change if there won't be anyone in the hatch.

    g-wagon crew commander

I've been looking for alternatives to the LUVW-Milcot (Silverado) as PRes Arty for certain live fire exercises, and the G-wagon (LUVW) has been suggested.  However when I inquired with the local armoured recce regiment I was informed that there has to be a qualified crew commander in their...

    Mess Kits

So my wife just got her mess kit back from the tailor, and something was wrong - red shoulder-straps!  So this sent me looking into both the RCA standing orders (SO) and the CF Dress instructions (DI). The main point of confusion is that the CF dress instructions (pg 256) stipulate that females...
