100 NATIONS AGREE TO KILL PEOPLE DIFFERENTLY

ONE hundred nations last night signed a treaty agreeing to kill people without using cluster bombs.

The new treaty means the signatories will now be forced to use one of the thousands of other weapons at their disposal when wiping out entire villages of brown people.

Defence analyst Dr Tom Logan said: "From now on the 'cluster bomb' button will be covered up with masking tape, forcing the pilot to use the his '50mm cannon' toggle or 'laser guided missile' switch instead.

Its more for the endangerment of civilians, not with being more humane or something when engaging threats. Cluster bombs have huge environmental impact, even after they have detonated.

Its a start.  :blotto:

He he yay canister round. Its like a cluster bomb for a tank :P will they ban it too?
(Any one know if the CF is looking at buying the canister round for the Leo 2 in Afghanistan?(And yes I know it is still in development))

Canister rounds do not leave behind UXOs that are potentially dangerous to civilians and our own troops after they are fired. Depending on the type of cluster bomb and the source quoted, sub-munitions can have a dud rate between 3 and 20 percent. For a Mk 20 Rockeye with 247 bomblets, potentially 7 to 49 UXOs could be left behind.

I should have explained what I meant
Well here is an example.
Take a room and put a few people in it, now you want hit a person in the front row so you throw a hand full of smarties(canister round) at them now a very large percent will hit the target but some will over shoot the target hitting others.
What I meant is it is similar because it has the potential to cause similar collateral damage.
Also I'm not supporting the ban, and really it is pointless because most of the country's that use them did not sign it. Its like having Coca-cola signing a contract saying they will take trans fat out of their product.
