Thoughts and prayers are with the victims, and the City of New York Police Officers, Firefighters and Paramedics who ran up the stairs.
My partner and I stood on a sidewalk in the Financial District and watched people evacuate out of the skyscrapers, the court houses at Old City Hall, Osgoode Hall, University Ave., the CN Tower, and the Eaton Centre.
The American Embassy on University Ave. was also evacuated.
People were streaming towards Union Station.
We had not heard or seen any radio or TV news reports at that point.
The Department ordered every off-duty Paramedic in the City to report for duty. That was a first and, so far, last.
They sent 50 Paramedics from HQ in a convoy to NYC. I wasn't in it, but I saw them.
They were cancelled close to the US border. Not required.
