17 May 2026: Two EA-18 Growlers crash at Mountain Home AFB air show

Funny. Originally nothing on the US news sites but the Daily Mail had a big article with additional videos almost immediately

Two hours later it was on Fox but nada on CNN.

🙁

Glad everyone is safe. No word on injuries yet.

Can't wait to see who Trump blames this on.

It was reported shortly after that the crew were safe, or I’d not be cracking jackass jokes about the Growlers mating. It’s not funny til everyone’s ok.

Two comments:

What do you imagine they said to each other, once they were sure everybody was ok, having landed only feet from each other? I'm willing to bet it wasn't PG.

And that was an interesting case study in physics and aerodynamics in what happens when two flying machines become one at a low enough velocity to not immediately self disassemble.

Holy crap, it's a miracle all 4 managed to eject. For a second there it looked like someone was going to get caught in the wreckage or swatted by a wing.

Someone's going to have some serious 'splaining to do.

“At least buy me dinner first” or something along those lines?

I hope we get to find out their new callsigns once the dust settles. That had all the grace of two slinkies colliding and becoming one on the way down the stairs.

Also, those crews probably barely knew what happened. Imagine when they see the video.

My smartassery aside, what a wild collision. It’s amazing the crews punched out ok and I hope they all heal fully, physically and mentally. That had to suck in every way.

Something to that effect, yeah... :ROFLMAO:

If either of them are ever allowed to fly again, I suspect at least one of those pilots is going to wear this one...

Looks like the trail aircraft lost visual with lead under his nose due to being stepped up in altitude. I’ve only experienced it a couple of times in different aircraft (slower fixed and rotary wing) and it made a lasting impression on me, not pleasant. It shouldn’t happen in the first place but so close to the other aircraft (whilst closing in…), losing lead in that manner should have triggered a better evasive manœuvre in my opinion. Hindsight being 20/20

Glad everyone’s okay! 👍

Rejoin from the inside & above. Spicy.

Glad all four got out and close enough to break the deck of cards out of the seatpack’s survival kit while they waited for dust off to get to them.
