1. How much trouble will I run into if I wish to change my element to Airforce from Landforce/Army.

2. I've read many threads about 'Jet Pilot' req. but no 'Helicopter Pilot' req. What are the medical requirements for a Helicopter Pilot. I heard that the branch for the pilots split depending on students' (at RMC) performances.

Well, if you change from air force to army, you wont be going pilot.

Medical standards for pilots are the same regardless of airframe type. Performance at RMC has nothing to do with which airframe one ends up flying.

well, what is the biggest factor that decides the airframe?

Flight training (BFT) , luck and a good dose of "perfect timming" i would say

Meaning timely delivery of a double-double to the right instructor?

CDN Aviator: didn't he/she say changing element to Air Force from Army? Someone read something wrong here :-\

Greenrubberduckie: I believe that the medical requirements for helicopter pilots are listed somewhere in here

And they are the same as any other pilot.

I'm french, i read backwards

Or you could say I'm only English and therefore I'm the one who reads backwards, and those who are French read frontwards...

thanks for the inputs
One more question though, would it help me at all if I had PPL for certain models of aircrafts?

Fortunately, according to the list, I meet visual requirements to be a pilot.
Just out of curiosity, I heard somewhere about Navy pilots. Are they part of the Airforce or Navy?
Also what medical standards do they follow?

1. ) This is a point of debate as to whether a PPL will help you...if at all, it might help with your air sense during primary flight training, but not much after that.

2.) A pilot is a pilot, they are all in the Canadian Forces.

Technically, there is no Navy, Army or Air Force, just Maritime Command, Land Forces Command and Air Command.

That said, all pilots fly aircraft as part of Air Command. There are two groupings that do not directly support Air Command's own mission (NORAD, SAR, tpt, etc...), the maritime patrol & helicopters - primarily in support of Maritime Command (Navy) and tactical aviation (helicopters) - primarily in support of Land Forces Command (Army).

A Sea King pilot is in Air Command, but operationally deploys on ship (Frigate, Destroyer or Replensihment ship) in support of Maritime Command's mission.
