CF Taekwondo Invitational
15-16 November 2008 Variety Village, Toronto
General Information

1. The sport of Taekwondo will be re-introduced to the CF National Sports program in 2009.  Already a CF-sanctioned sport at the CISM level, Taekwondo will now be developed as a grass roots program across the CF, incorporating Regional Development Camps and a National-level competition.  In preparation for the launch of this rejuvenated National program, a CF Taekwondo Invitational Tournament will be held in conjunction with the Toronto Open (a well-established, premier civilian tournament), through the institution of a CF-only black belt division.

2. The CF Taekwondo Invitational is open to all CF members who practice WTF style Taekwondo.  Day 1 of the tournament will be the coloured-belt competition, with CF members being integrated with civilian participants.  Day 2 is the black-belt competition and CF members will be permitted to only compete in the CF divisions.  The only exception will be to allow CF members the choice between CF divisions or Executive and Veteran divisions.

3. Those CF Taekwondo athletes interested in participating are to seek time off approval through their local PSP Fitness and Sports Director/Sports Coordinator. Once confirmation of approval for time off has been received, all participants are to register themselves utilizing the form included in the registration package at www.yctkd.ca.

4. Once registered, CF Taekwondo athletes are to advise their local PSP Fitness and Sports Director/Sports Coordinator that they have registered, and make their request for financial reimbursement as well as provide the following information to their local PSP Fitness and Sports Director/Sports Coordinators:
a. Rank;
b. Name;
c. Initials;
d. SN;
e. Belt colour or Dan level;
f. Gender; and
g. Division number (refer to registration package for list of division numbers).

5. PSP Fitness and Sports Director/Sports Coordinator are asked to send the completed information in para 4 to their Regional Sports Directors (RSD) in a timely manner.  Once advised by the PSP Fitness and Sports Director/Sports Coordinators, RSD are asked to provide the above information received by Fitness and Sports Director/Sports Coordinators to the Canadian Forces Taekwondo Association Chair, Maj Nathalie Lund by 7 Nov 08 in the format outlined at Annex A (CF Taekwondo Participant Information Form).

6. Flights are to be booked by the Fitness and Sports Directors/Sports Coordinators in accordance with the information described in the Joining Instructions.  Joining Instructions will be sent by the National Sports Manager on behalf of the CFTA approximately 4 weeks prior to the start of this CF Invitational event.

7. Please contact Maj Nathalie Lund, President of the Canadian Forces Taekwondo Association, if you have any questions regarding this Invitational via email [email protected] or phone at 613-995-9561.

Just curious, I wonder if an old CO from 2RCR helped to make this a reality?
About 10 years ago, we had a CO who was a black-belt. He set up a TKD trg about +3 times a week for morning PT in the drill hall for those interested. I trained for 2 years, but put it on hold after I sprained both ankles while in Bosnia while TKD trg in Coralichi. Never took it back up when we got back...wish I had of.
