Unless it involves nothing more strenuous then issuing Press releases. Don't expect the Canadian Government to lift a finger if you find yourselves in such situation.
If we were truly honest we would rename Global Affairs the Department of Virtue Signaling.
And replace the current recorded messages on the 1-800 numbers with the phrase " Drop Dead! And could you be kind enough do it out of sight of the media ."

I agree and if they should happen to show up on Canadian soil I would expect them to be arrested immediately and held without bail, then returned to Iran to face their accusers.

In 1979 Canada furnished the USA with six passports to get US embassy staff out of Iran after the Shah was tossed.

IIRC the Ambassador was Ken Taylor and he is a hero.

I reckon our government has lost any nerve they had - given Afghanistan and all. WE have lost our way. WE are not serious.

If you are a Canadian citizen working in Iran, visiting or temporarily looking after a sick family member or something and are caught in the crossfire; sure, lets do what we can, but the Doctor is G&M article linked above sounds like an Iranian resident with a Canadian passport of convenience.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has issued a temporary halt on removals to Israel. This measure is being taken given the volatile and unpredictable situation in Israel due to ongoing hostilities with Iran.

The temporary halt, known as an Administrative Deferral of Removals (ADR), is imposed pursuant to paragraph 230(1)(c) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, on countries that are considered unsafe due to conditions such as environmental disasters or violence. There are currently 16 ADRs in place for countries around the world, including one for Iran which was imposed on November 14, 2022.

The ADR does not apply to individuals who are inadmissible on grounds of criminality, serious criminality, international or human rights violations, organized crime, or security.

Once the situation in Israel stabilizes and the circumstances no longer pose a generalized risk to the entire civilian population, the ADR will be lifted and the CBSA will resume removals for individuals who are inadmissible to Canada and have a removal order that is enforceable.
