I'm looking for information relating to my Great Uncle who did not return home from Europe.  He is buried in Beny-Sur-Mer Cemetary and was a Seargent with the Grenadier Guards, 22nd Armoured Regiment.  He was 2 years younger than I am right now when he died and I'd like to find out as much information about him as humanly possible.

His name was Edward Samual Dingley.

Any help would be appreciated.

You would probably be able to find some good information through the CGG War Museum.  The CGG was the 22nd in the War.  If you give me sometime, I will try to find contact information for you.  I am however posted away from the regiment for a while, so it might be a few days.  I can PM you the regiment's phone number in the meantime, they might be able to direct you more accordingly.

why don't you try to contact the CGG via their unit web site @

I have visited the CGG via the website and haven't had much luck on a few occasions.

My apologies for using the word Division, I hope I didn't offend anyone.  He was a member of the 22nd Armoured Regiment and words cannot express how proud I am of him -- actually words cannot express how proud I am of anyone with the courage to do what he did.  My Grandfather was stationed somewhere in Northern Ontario during the war and my Great Grandfather retired after a career spent in the military in Ireland.

Thank you for all the ideas you've provided.

My grandfather was in HQ Squadron, Regemental Headquarters, 22nd Armoured Regiment so if you could possibly give me more information on your Great Uncle, I might be able to help you.

I don't have a whole lot of information on him.

This is what I've found throught the Commonwealth War Graves:

Sergeant EDWARD SAMUEL DINGLEY

D/26424, 22nd Armd. Regt., Canadian Grenadier Guards, R.C.A.C.
who died age 34
on 10 August 1944

Born in Kitchener, Ontario
