I recently went through the medical exam, and received a form that my doctor had to fill out then fax clearing me of this issue. My doctor wasn't confident enough it was a non issue to clear me, so he scheduled me for some scans at the hospital.

The problem is, the soonest date I can get in is May 27th, which will be 2 months past my medical date. The physician told me the line before I left, return it within 30 days or they will assume you are no longer interested and close the application. I called in to my recruitment centre to explain the problem, and the person I talked to didn't seem concerned and told me to phone back when I had the information. When I mentioned this 30 day policy, and just kept asking "who told you that?". Anyway, I was eventually transferred to the medic, not entirely sure if it was the one who tested me, but I left a message stating my name and what my situation was.

As I get closer to the 30 day mark I am a little bit worried and was just wondering if there is anything else I can do? I would hate to have my application dropped because somebody didn't write down my message, couldn't understand me clearly, etc.

This may be of interest.

"It's likely going to take me longer than 30 days to get my letters, specialists are tricky to get a hold of and I'm already on cancellation lists to try and get in sooner. Family doctor was easy and he's drafting that letter already. The med tech is aware and OK if I call him before the due date to request an extension if I need it, but hopefully I can avoid having to make that call.":

The fact your situation involves medical may affect things differently, but when I applied online they said my file would be closed after 60 days if they had not yet received any documents. I just recently got my transcripts from my college and hunted down the dusty pile of high school crap containing my postsecondary, and sure enough, 60 days passed. I called the CFVRC and the rep told me I could still send in my documents and that it is standard procedure for the file to be online file to be closed as application takes longer than 60 days anyway. Not sure why they bother with the time limits, but this is what I was told.

As long are your File Manager is aware that there will be a delay, then your application shouldn't be closed.

Thanks for the help guys.

I left a message with my File Manager and sent an e-mail as well. Hope all goes well.

I applied in January 2012 and didnt do my medical until June 2012. I failed the eye test portion and decided to get Lasik Eye Surgery done so I could continue my application.  By doing the surgery, my application was put on hold for 3 months. I was told to simply call them every 3-4 weeks to tell them not to close my file. They were well aware that my application was put on hold, and I had no issues with it staying open.

Worst case scenario, even if your file is closed, it still exists, and can be re-opened at your request.  It happens all the time.  If any of the time-sensitive elements have expired (they have to re-do certain parts if a *lot* of time has elapsed) they may bring you in for an "update" appointment here or there, but it's not usually a big deal.  If you're talking about reopening it within a month or two of it being closed, they may not even worry about having you redo all that paperwork...
