Guys, another question. I've heard that every year there's an exercise happening during winter holidays..somewhere, and reservists from 32 CER (possibly other units too?) can go on it. It's about a week or so long, and usually guys bring their snow gear so they can go ski/snowboard in their free time, or after the exercise, at a nearby resort. Does any of this ring a bell? Is this still around? And if so, is it only for trained personnel or anyone? Any info on this would be interesting.. Thanks.

If it's an EX then chances are you are not getting free time. As soon as the ex is over you are bused back to the unit and will begin cleaning weapons and sorting out gear. I'm guessing you may be talking about the bridging ex in Chiliwack BC as I found out that no longer happens at least for 32 CBG.

Hello all.
I'm applying to join 32 Combat Engineer Regiment in Toronto, and am wondering if there are any members of the unit around. When applying, I got in contact with a 32 CBG recruiter (his email was attached to 32 CER's contact info on FORCE.ca) and have not had any contact with members of 32 CER itself (I didn't know until joining this forum and reading around that the normal way to apply to a Res unit is to visit the unit first, and the recruiter - from the Horse Guards - has never advised me to do anything differently. My file is "almost complete" and I have completed all the necessary steps). I was told by this recruiter, during our first meeting, that I had a good chance of getting the job and an "awesome application", but I'm looking for any additional info on the unit, such as: is 32 CER hiring? Is it under-manned? etc. I know that the quality (or lack thereof) of my file is irrelevant if the unit is not hiring, and now realize that I should have visited the unit *before* applying.

I also understand that in applying, I've signed myself up for a potentially long wait for any response; I understand that the CAF doesn't owe me anything, and I'm not trying to be the "anxious applicant" who gets steadily more and more upset and posts more and more as time goes on. I just want to be as informed as possible.

Please forgive me if this is posted in the wrong spot, asking foolish questions, or redundant in any way - I've exhausted the search function and understand that similar threads have been created before but they are now out of date. If necessary I can delete and/or modify the question.

Thank you for bearing with me!

Perhaps if you ask in one of the 32 CER discussions, for those who follow them.

Mariomike,
thank you, will do. FYI by "out of date", I was referring explicitly to time-specific news about recruiting, etc. I didn't mean to discount "old" info :) Also, I wasn't sure if those older threads were in sections rarely saw the light of day, and figured posting here might be a good bet. I'm still a new member so thank you for the advice!

Hello,
Does anyone know if 32 CER is hiring? Is the unit under-manned? I've been unable to find much of any info on the unit so any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hey Canuck10,

I've sent you a PM with contact details for 32 CER's Recruiting NCO. He should be able to answer your questions.

Good luck with your application process!

Hello helpful friends,

I'm having a little bit of difficulty getting a hold of recruiters at 32 Combat Engineers Regiment (Denison Armoury) and the Canadian Forces Recruitment Center in Toronto. I've left two voicemails (each), and sent out an email to the generic 32 Canadian Brigade Group recruitment address, since last Friday. I'm wondering if there is a specific reason the recruitment teams aren't picking up the phone or responding?

Basically, I applied online last week and received an email saying: "You must contact a reserve unit recruiter to set up your initial processing appointment."

Thanks.

You can try visiting 32 CER on Friday evening and seeing if the recruiter is there to talk too.

ACE_Engineer,
I'm getting in touch with recruiting staff from 32 CER about your issue. The unit's been recruiting pretty aggressively as of late and I imagine they'll be happy to hear about your interest. I'll PM you contact info when I receive it.

Thank you Tegar and Canuck. My plan was to show up at Denison Armoury on Friday and see if they'd let me in. I would love to get a chance to chat with a few of the Engineer Officers there regarding their experiences.

Appreciate your help immensely.

I wouldn't recommend showing up unannounced as you need an escort to bring you in. I'll have the appropriate email shortly for you via PM.
