Four Canadian soldiers training for deployment in Afghanistan were taken to hospital after being injured in a highway rollover, Mounties said Monday.
The soldiers were conducting training just south of Canadian Forces Base Suffield and traveling northbound on Hwy. 884 in a Mercedes Benz G-Wagen on Sunday afternoon, when the large jeep-style combat vehicle rolled, Redcliff RCMP said.
" The vehicle lost control and rolled several times, finally coming to rest on it's roof," said RCMP Const. Mike Martin.
"Two of the four occupants were ejected from the vehicle as it rolled.
"One of the victims was transported to the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital (by) helicopter, while the other three were transported by ground ambulance -- all with non-life-threatening injuries."
The victims are all attached to the First Battalion of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry from Edmonton and were in Suffield training for deployment to Afghanistan, said Martin.
