Anyone have more information on this military exercise?

CFB PETAWAWA, ON, Oct. 2 /CNW Telbec/ - 427 Special Operations Aviation
Squadron's (427 SOA Sqn) will conduct a training exercise in Montreal from
October 3-4. The exercise is designed to practice flying in urban locations
during both daytime and night exercises.
During the exercise, residents of Montreal may observe CH-146 Griffon
helicopters flying along highway and traffic routes, and hovering near or
above buildings. The helicopters will be based at Pierre Trudeau International
Airport, and their flight path will follow highways 13, 20, and 720 to the
Mont-Royal area. Every effort will be made to minimize the impact of the
exercise on the local populace.

427 SOA Sqn provides both a tactical and special operations aviation
capability to all units within Canadian Special Operations Forces Command
(CANSOFCOM.) More information about the Squadron, their role, and CANSOFCOM is
available at www.cansofcom.forces.gc.ca

For further information: Note to the editors/public: Any queries about
this exercise can be addressed to the CANSOFCOM Public Affairs Officer, Major
Doug Allison, at (613) 992-7611

Well I might as well step up here.

This is your first post, no profile, and no cred and your asking for specifics on an exercise.  I sincerely doubt you'll get the answer your looking for.

Robmtl1 I would suggest you to watch tv... LCN, TVA and even Radio Canada are talking about that exercice  ;)

Thanks for the answer.

Question: Why do you hate our troops?

this is what we call "failing your combat estimate"...

Yeah I hate the troops so much I'm going over to Afghanistan in 6 days.  What are you doing?

Could someone besides the originator tell me if any of my posts in this thread were out of line please.  PM's or open board doesn't matter to me.

Your post was bang on.

Sorry, I didn't know that I needed "cred" to post a question. Sorry if I'm not a big "military" fan like you but when I see military choppers conduct training exercises over a populous area with unsafe dangerous equipment, I seek out answers.

Ok.. I'll bite

Please define unsafe dangerous equipment.

Well, you see, you don't need "cred" to ask just ask a question, but when you are asking questions about the training activities of 427 Sqn (or other elements in their Command) then we do get suspicious if you're coming out of left field.  That's why we ask, and if you're just a university student with a poor understanding of military equipment, I guess it's really not in your "need to know" envelope anyway.

Watch the news for what you can find.

and how many non-military aircraft fly over montreal each day?? the horror!!  :crybaby:

I'm not a protester, I came here to ask an honest question.

If somebody felt insulted, then I apologize, but my question was simple, concise and meant to find out information on what was going on in the skies.

If someone felt insulted then I apologize.

Teddy beat me to it - dangerous, unsafe equipment?

We ask because people that sometimes show up here asking questions ask ones that, shall we say, tend to be suspect in their intentions.  Kind of like asking for ID when some dude you don't know shows up on your door claiming to be from Bell Canada - you ask for credentials before you let them into your house.  We just like to know who we're talking to.

Yer post was fine.      ;)

Now onto this little gem.....      ::)

robmtl1.....you'll find that most of the active members on this site are actual members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

We don't entertain the jab that you just took to a member that is about to depart the land of round door knobs for the sand box.

You come on here demanding information that if you did a little digging yourself, via other means, you'd find the answer very easily.

No profile filled out....and a nice little bit of trolling, keep it up.

I see a ramp in your future.

This waste of bandwidth is now locked.

Regards
