Hey guys,

Not sure if this topic has been covered but I saw someone selling a 80% lower and specifically they got it from www.arlower.ca
anyone had any experience with these? or how they work? and legality?

Once you have one to the "working" stage, it becomes a "firearm" under the current legislation.

Registering might be an entertaining process.

Also, there have been several court cases ruling that something is not really what it is, but what it may become.

Trying to do it yourself requires mill and drill press. You need to be adept at setting up and milling and drilling angles. The tap for the buffer extention is pretty expensive also. Even with all the above, you should invest in a jig specifically designed for the job. Don't be suprised when they ask for your completed lower so they can inspect it. And don't expect it back for maybe a couple of years.

It's been a while since I looked closely at the legislation, but I seem to recall something about "manufacturing" firearms in it, which may render the finishing process illegal.

When the seller says, in his FAQ page, "there is no ruling on 80% lowers", one should approach with great caution.

The first guy who attempts to defend his purchase and handiwork up to the Supreme Court had better have lots of money to spend on BMWs for lawyers.
