Kirk’s Song
Stanza: 1
We raise the banner high today,
For a son who gave his all.
He bravely went to take his place
In answer to the call.
A victim of the battle field,
As soldiers sometimes fall.
Yet proud to set a people free,
Our hero standing tall.
Stanza: 2
Kirk’s boy hood dreams we celebrate,
Where he would be a man.
To change the world in some small way,
To meet the worlds demands.
He’d train for month’s beside our troops,
Defend our countries plans.
And give his life for us that day,
As we, beside him stand.
Stanza: 3
The four that travelled with him,
We re-member them to-day.
They too, became a sacrifice,
And With their lives, they’d pay.
They died together as a team,
They live in our hearts we pray.
And linger in our mem-ory,
As the hero’s of our day.
Stanza: 4
We celebrate their lives today,
As Country, we will stand.
Support our troops in many ways,
Bringing freedom to that land.
A boy of pride in his mother’s eyes
The model of a man.
To try and build a country,
Will their people under-stand?
Stanza: 5
We thank them for their gift today,
For another, gave their lives.
Our hearts are burdened with the thought
Tears falling from our eyes.
They can kill our troops, but not our faith,
As we say our last good-byes.
To the one we’ve come to love so dear,
A hero of the wise!
