Spectators in the Capitol cheered and applauded after the votes in the House and Senate.

Each chamber had broad bipartisan support for the historic decision. Republican Gov. Tate Reeves has said he will sign the bill, and the state flag will lose its official status as soon as he does. That could happen in the next few days.

Interesting thing about that. As part of the game development studio I run, I have had to have the ocasional difficult conversation on this topic. The general point that gets made only once is that if content was removed for merely offending someone's beliefs, we wouldn't have a game. The person who initially brought the issue up adheres to a religious tradition which holds snakes as sacred, and the game has snake people as a faction.

Sorry, but the staples of comic books trump religious sensibilities in this regard. We aren't simply building a game for a single group of people.

The lack of offense would soon be found to cause offense.
